★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I am very angry that Nurse Next Door continues to advertise their services on the basis that "the only thing worse than living in a retirement facility..." This is a great disservice not only to the retirement facilities that offer great care and relieve families from the burden and stress of caring for our elders who need professional care, but to all of those seniors who are trying to make a decision about their own living arrangements. Many seniors are frightened of what used to be called "old folks' homes" and it is not helpful for them to hear this one-sided, self-serving message from Nurse Next Door. They may already be confused and afraid of change.
Families who have been struggling to do the right thing for their parents, only to be met with uninformed opposition and fear are suffering. Nurse Next Door is not an option for everyone - whether it's because the seniors cannot stay in their own home for safety or financial reasons or because they can't afford it. I spoke with the company and they said they understood our pain and still they use these commercials. For that reason alone, I would never deal with Nurse Next Door. Their ads are not fair to the seniors, to their families or to the retirement facilities who are offering an alternative and, in most cases, a secure option for the transition from independence to end of life.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ NND has always been willing to adjust care providers and schedules as we required. While it took a short period of time to find the right care givers to provide the respite care and assistance we needed, we have two great care providers who have treated our parent(s) with compassion, dignity and respect. Local management has always been available and willing to help regardless of the issue and were quick to have care givers available to begin care services (within in 48hrs of initial meeting). Being able to provide respite assistance by taking one parent out 16 hours a week has been a great help to our family. Being able to contact local management directly when needed and have them get in contact you within a few hours has been invaluable. In an emergency, local management has always been available immediately. I would recommend NND for anyone who is looking for respite or in home assistance.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The caregiver didn’t show up for her shift to dress my mother. My 88 year old mother was left alone, hungry and half dressed as she tried for 3 hours to dress herself. No one called her to ensure she was safe. No alternate caregiver was sent to her once they realized the caregiver didn’t sign in. We were assured that in the event a shift cannot be filled....the owner would personally attend to my mother, she would never be left alone. The very nightmare I hired a caregiver to avoid.....happened with this company.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We have been using Nurse Next Door Kamloops for over a year now, and we have no idea what we would do without this amazing team of caregivers. Our grandparents live with my 30-year-old sister and her husband who works out of town. Nurse Next Door has been an absolute lifesaver. The caregivers are punctual, kind, and treat our grandparents like family. We have used other caregiver companies, but none other even comes close to Nurse Next Door. The difference for us is that the entire team - the owner, the care designer, and all the caregivers - genuinely care about our grandparents as people, not just as clients. From the initial call, this is evident. They took great care to find caregivers that were a good match for our grandparents and understood the emotional side of this process. The entire team has gone above and beyond for our grandparents and for my sister and we would recommend this company to anyone.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I used Nurse Next Door Home Care Services while recovering from a serious illness which left me unable to look after myself for a time. The caregiver was always on time and attentive to my needs at all times, from cooking meals to making sure I received medications and changing dressings to getting me to appointments on time. There was never any issues with schedule changes which happened on a regular basis just had to advise the office by email and it was done.My caregiver was pleasant and professional and I couldn't have asked for better care, I would use this service again without hesitation.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nurse Next Door went above and beyond to assist our family during a difficult time. There isn’t enough thanks for their help with the in-home palliative care they provided. The nurses were friendly and courteous, and they maintained a calm, positive attitude with their patient and the extended family. We couldn’t have gotten through without them, and we absolutely recommend them. Especially, Anna, Hatima, and Tess!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely wouldn’t recommend this as a workplace. Whilst the owner is a wonderful lady who has a kind heart… her management team is atrocious! Her care management team worked for the Hamlets in the past… so no need to say more regarding that!
The only amazing part about this job was the clients I got to meet, and their families ❤️
But when it came to management… I was belittled, accused of being a liar and was even yelled at over the phone. Absolutely appalled by the way I was treated. I have never been so poorly treated in my 8 years of working in the healthcare field. I even gave them a one month notice to be kind but I found it so hard to stay there for the final month because of how I was treated. Don’t even get me started on the scheduling department either.. the whole system is a mess here. It needs to be organized better.
Be better. Do better.. people will stay at your place of work and you wouldn’t have such a high turnover rate if you had some basic compassion for your workers. All I asked for was time off to attend my child’s teacher/parent conference for kindergarten and a dental appointment.. it did not have to end in me being accused of making up appointment to skip work and having someone raise their voice at me. Shame on you Nurse Next Door.
I hope the owner hires better management one day.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nurse next door was great to work with! We used them for only 5 days during a visit to sun peaks. Very good communication, including calling us to ask if the caregiver had arrived (she had, but forgotten to check in). The first caregiver was amazing, in terms of skills, personality and being proactive. However,, the 2nd caregiver was far less skilled, and needing to be directed for each step.
