Northern Lights Gallery & Studio
About Northern Lights Gallery & Studio
Northern Lights Gallery & Studio first opened its gallery storefront in 2003, but it began years earlier with a young would-be artist named Linda Brown.
A post-secondary education in the Fine Arts-Visual taught Linda the fundamental design techniques that set the foundation for her work in metal, which would become her life-long passion. She started making hand-fabricated silver jewellery in 1996 and sold her pieces through local seasonal craft markets. She earned a living through craft fairs, co-operative art shows and sales, as well as consignment selling alongside various art-related jobs.
In 2003, Linda opened Northern Lights Gallery & Studio at 316 Bay Street in Thunder Bay, Ontario. By 2009, the storefront gallery was open full-time and Linda was able to dedicate herself to her craft and artistry, building a loyal following in the community. Having grown up in the business, Alexander joined in his mother’s passion for hand-fabricated jewellery and began adding his own pieces to the collection.
