Happy with the final product and the install team was great. Their sales team is another story. Twice they provided incorrect information to our contractor resulting in extra work and extra expense. Final bill came in $1200 over the estimate. A month after we paid, and after they read our negative review, they realized they had overcharged us by more than $1000 for parts they didn't actually use. Unprofessional and untrustworthy.

On the upside, they were here when they said they would be here. Unfortunately, the variable speed fan was not explained properly in the showroom, and it turns out to be not what we wanted. The estimator left it out of his estimate, so the final fireplace price (which was our highest estimate) was higher than we thought. I hope to heavens the installation of the firebox was done better than the drywall. They left us so many problems to fix on the drywall, we called them, concerned about them. Different problems before and after after we paid them...all met with 'not our problem, a drywaller/muddy/tape guy can fix that.' Derek, while pleasant is clearly not into customer satisfaction. So the upshot is; they don't take responsibility for their drywalling. We very clearly told everyone the fireplace was to be finished in drywall only. Our muddy/tape guy is clearly frustrated, as he says he runs into this frequently. He is talented, but it is more expense as compared to having the fireplace drywalled properly in the first place. Like I said, hopefully the fireplace installation is more responsibly done. Time will tell, but I don't have confidence in these folks, and we paid a lot to get to that.

My rating for this business is actually several negative stars. We purchased a fireplace through a radio auction. Not knowing anything about fireplaces, before bidding my husband called and spoke to a salesman at northern fireplace and asked about this unit and if it would work for our situation. We currently have a wood fireplace, the salesman asked measurements and he then assured my husband that it would work and fit no problem at all. So we proceeded to bid on this fireplace and were the highest bidders. So now they send us their installer to come and take a look at our situation, and within minutes he told us that what we purchased won't work without extensive renovations to our current wood fireplace. Yes, technically anything will work, but to what extent? These guys don't care about their customers and will do anything say anything for a quick sale. I've spoken to the manager and he now insists we didn't even buy the fireplace from them. Also, of course none of the salesmen will admit they even talked to my husband. I feel this is probably standard practice for them. Anyways, I would never recommend this business, you have many other options. Hello Derek Brown. The only way you could make this process better is to buy the fireplace back from us. Again, we called Northern Fireplace and spoke to one of your sales staff and clarified before we placed our bid and asked if this unit would work for us and we gave him ALL the details and without hesitation your salesmen said yes it will work. That’s the problem here!!!!! As a consumer I can not be expected to know everything about everything, so I called your people to get an answer and the answer I got was wrong!!!! You can fix this by giving us a refund, that’s the only way. Last week I called and spoke to a very rude man who kept insisting we didn’t buy the fireplace from them we bought it from the auction. Ok well that is true but Northern Fireplace is who we called to get the information from regarding the fireplace in question. Yes we could have called the auction and asked about it but why would they know anything about this product?? Very disappointing attitude from this individual. Same day we got a quote for a gas insert but zero mention of any type of refund for unit we already purchased. Go ahead and make this situation right Derek!!

After weeks of online research to find the right fireplace for my needs I had a couple options in mind. I wasn't about to visit each retailer in the city because of covid, so I phoned all of them instead to narrow it down to a short list. The last retailer I called was Northern Fireplace. Jason spent considerable time with me on the phone, he was patient, professional, knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I went there the same day to see what they had in the showroom. They have a really good selection and all are set up so you can see what they look like in real life. I went there convinced I wanted one particular model, but after seeing it in operation I ended up buying another. They had it in stock so there was no wait whatsoever. I knew the pricing from my research and I can say they definitely priced it very competitively. I had also been shopping for a BBQ and ended up buying one there at the same time; again Jason was patient and knowledgeable, and priced it right. I am very impressed with the customer service I received.

We recently sold our house but before we did we had Northern fireplace inspectThe wood burning fireplace which we had not used for several years and found it needed to be replaced. Jason was a great help to help us select a suitable gas replacement and arrange for installation which was done promptly with a perfect fit into the existing opening by Johnny. I would give them six stars if it was possible.

The guys at Northern Fireplace did an excellent job for us, everything from helping us pick out the fireplace right for our space, to coming into our home and designing the perfect entertainment space. Jason, Joe and team did a awesome job, thanks again for your amazing workmanship, this is now our new favorite room in our home. ? Also a big high five to Cathedral Stone, Aljan did a beautiful job on the stone work. I’m sure it will look fantastic for many years to come. My wife and I couldn’t be more happy with the procedure and final product. 100% satisfied

Look at the pictures!! Zero stars!! Apparently it's our fault for not providing the information they needed before installing a wood burning stove. Information like: knowing how much space between the ground grade outside needs to be between the pipe and ground for code. Jason asked for measurements and pictures without attending at our home. Knowing what is required to meet code or have an install done is not our responsibility. The day of install we were told there needed to be a "window well" type of hole dug outside to allow the pipe to be free from the ground etc...we were willing to prepare that; however, the install guys encouraged us to put the pipe through the living room (which they assured us by measuring while we both were present that it would not interfere with the window allowing us to "box" in around the pipe to conceal the chimney without obstructing the window in any way - in fact, we had about three inches of room which would be sufficient for framing around the chimney) and also because the pipe on the outside would take longer to heat up causing back draft etc...we opted for the chimney to be routed through our living room. They said it would be tucked close enough to the wall to allow the "boxing" in of the chimney (again, they measured and showed us where the outside of the chimney would extend to from the wall). Jason just told me that they can't get closer to the wall than what they did "due to the component requirements and code requirements"; however, the top of the chimney is much closer to the wall than what is jetting out from the floor....so does this mean it's not up to code? I wasn't going to give a bad review, but decided against it. I'm not sure of anyone who walk away from a job like this and say "yup, i did good" and go home to have a good nights rest. Do you?? The most absurd install by a "professional" and least amount of ownership of the lack of skill i've ever heard of.
