Great trail, after heavy snow it's much harder. Very quiet only met a few people cross country skiing. But beware of horse poop??

It was a surprise ?, but a nice and positive one. We prefer tracts off the beaten path and this one started in Uxbridge, right behind the Walmart. Initially, close to the entrance, it was too crowded for our taste, but we turned E-NE, off the main tract as soon as we could and then S as far as it went, then towards the W side, plus another digression S for cca. 0.5km and back, crisscrossed the central area, climbed the hill (and a few prior to this, my dog ? and I cannot resist a challenge of a steep hill, but the central one had the best view), walked past the creek and a nice lake and in about 500m we were back to the parking lot. The track was mostly snow covered and packed to the icing level, and both my wife and I slipped a bit few times, and we do have good walking boots and know how to handle slippery slope. It's far from being dangerous, but requires caution and attention. All in all, it was a really pleasing two and half hours, we covered 10+ km, and I was really plesently surprised by the level of wilderness adjacent to the inhabited area. Definitely an add-on to our favourites list.

This is a great area, the forest is nice, and the trail seems not too busy. You can tell that a lot of horses go here, as the trail is sandy (I guess good for the horse's feet) and there are a lot of horse droppings. One issue we had is that the trail is sandy and soft. It's hard to walk on, and there isn't too much room on the edges to walk on the harder ground. Other than sandy ground, and horse poop, this place is a nice area and a nice walk.

A breath a fresh air. You can really be one with nature here. Just please don't dump your trash in the forest.

One of the largest trail system in York Region Forrest trails. The majority of the land north of Vivian Rd., South of Davies Dr, east of McCowen and west of Highway 48 belong to North Tract. There are entrance/exits on all four sides. The yrail system is a bit complex and could get lost easily.

Loved coming here with the family for a walk. Just happened to find it when driving as far up in mccowan as we could go. Great thing about it is that it’s only about 20mins north of Markham. So it’s not too far out of the city and accessible with great trails and lovely views, especially in the fall!

It's mid September and colour of the trees is changing. Despite the warnings of black legged ticks, the trails are simply beautiful and wide enough so that you may avoid touching any bushes, where the ticks might be hiding. In the afternoon you may encounter horse riders. If you are bringing your dog, leash it since it might startle the horse and injure the rider. Watch your steps though, because you may encounter some horse manure occasionally on the trail.

Used to be a great place to walk around, but this summer it turned out all trails there were messed up by horses, rendered into bulky layer of dust mixed with horse excrements. Terrible for hiking, but still suitable for horse back riding.
