L	Lawrence Kosowan on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In February 2021 I attended a series of 3 online songwriting workshops called, "Caring During COVID" which introduced me to renowned Toronto-based music producer, Murray Daigle and his co-writer BobbyJohn. I learned with a small group of participants about song structure, explored genres, and elements that make songs a hit. The sessions helped me focus and produce a new song with which I am very happy. Thanks to Murray Daigle, BobbyJohn, and Jen D. Fabico Executive Director at Next Generation Arts.

Collaboration is valued, the facilitators are so nice and I gained so many skills. I would highly recommend any artists to check them out if you're looking for good opportunities. I highly recommend looking into their opportunities because I'm certain there is something for everyone! I participated in a photography program hosted by Jen where a group of us learned new photo techniques and concepts and challenged to apply it to a larger story of what Scarborough means to us individually. It was truly the best part of my year in 2020 and I will definitely explore the workshops they offer in the future.

I got a chance to co-write and co-record a song at Phase One Studios - one of the oldest studios in Toronto (and probably Canada) where artists like Drake, Alessia and more have recorded their songs!

I was lucky enough to participate in their photography program which helped me (virtually) meet other artists. Next Generation Arts adapted remarkably well to the pandemic and managed to create such a fun and respectful online space that helped the participants tap into our creativity. Our instructor, Jen, is incredibly supportive and values everyone's differences. I highly recommend checking out Next Gen's programs to anyone who is interested in trying something new or looking to hone their skills. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to have learned new skills and to have met such incredible people!

It was a great outlet to find new hobbies during the pandemic and the staff is very supportive. I would totally recommend this organization and the workshops offered! :)
