This is the most unprofessional & useless company that exists today. They have an apartment listed as still available that I had applied for over a month ago. They gave me the run-around then and they're doing it again now. The apartment still sits unrented, they refuse to respond to any emails or voicemails, and won't set up a viewing. I'm beginning to think this "company" is actually just a scam to get our SIN# especially after reading many of the other reviews.

Newport manages a house behind mine. I contacted them to determine if the owner would be prepared to partially fund a fence between the properties. The current fence is in poor repair. Newport initially responded to my inquiry to say they would contact the owner. For several weeks now I’ve heard nothing. I have sent multiple emails requesting an update and there has been no response. I have no answer and my inquiries are being ignored. Very unprofessional. I’m the owner of multiple properties and I can say Newport will never get my business as a property manager.

Poor communication and 0 transparency. Professionalism is embarrassingly low for a property management company. Would not rent from them even if it was my dream place.

7+ months with no heat in our bedroom. A furnace technician came in Dec. 2020, said he needed to order parts and that the work could be done early in the new year. It's now June, there is still no heat in the bedroom, and the house my suite is in has sold. The property manager just ghosted us once it was clear the sale was going through. This company will literally leave your property in disrepair until it becomes someone else's problem. If you want your property maintained, and if you want to keep your tenants, do NOT do business with Newport.

Newport, You have got to be joking On the matter of the price increase at 1066 Foul Bay Road - this is an absolute outrage. When I moved into this building ten years ago, I was told that a 3rd washer/dryer set would be added to the communal laundry room. This made sense to me because it seemed absolutely ridiculous to only have 2 sets for four floors of people. 10 years later, with countless inconveniences and repairs to the current machines (that should have been replaced long ago...) we not only do not have the additional machines that we clearly need but we are told that we need to pay more? And apparently not just on the new machine, but on all 4 machines? How is this justified? I find it hard to believe that 1. Our $4-$6 per load has not already offset the cost of a machine one hundred times over since I've moved into this building and 2. that the efficiency and improved power consumption of the new machine will not quickly pay for itself. The thing that bothers me more than any of this is that now I have to worry about collecting quarters in addition to having to go to the bank to buy rolls of loonies every other time my husband and I want to do laundry. You would think that this building could at the very least supply a change machine or have a laundry fee included in our rent. So after several days of 4 floors of people using ONE washing machine, and several days of the gray water sitting in the broken machine and smelling like rotten eggs and botulism, this is the news that we receive. Really nice Newport. Feel free to forward this complaint to the penny-pinching owners of this god-forsaken building. Sincerely, An endlessly irritated renter of 10 years. P.S. Do better.

My house just got taken over by Newport and they said they only take payment by check. Who uses checks in this century?! Why should I have to pay for a money order every month? And hand deliver it?! Why is this company in the dark ages? Doesn't bode well for future issues.

I viewed a place, provided all my information, they checked my references, and even went as far as to contact the owners to ask about some upgrades I offered to do if I rented with them. Then as soon as I made my formal application to rent it they strung me along. I called every other day for updates on my application and was always told to keep calling and that the manager would hopefully call me back soon. My emails stopped being answered and no one followed up. This place has been vacant for a month and a half, finally on their site it says its rented and good luck to whomever managed to get into the place. It seems like you're in for a world of frustration if you need any sort of communication.

This property management business will only show you a home if your credit check is excellent. They don't care if you've paid rent on time in the same place for 18 years, or hold a glowing letter from your landlord as well as other stellar references, or have a long-term stable (even admirable), employment. They only care about your credit. Because to them you are a number on a screen, not a human being. (It's a travesty that the credit bureau fails to correct inaccuracies, and return a person's credit to it's rightful place, and very very stupid of companies such as Newport Management to rely solely upon an inaccurate system.) Homeowners beware--you will get tenants that look good on paper, and that doesn't really mean anything.
