Newmarket's Riverwalk Commons

My kids love the splash pads area so much we are there every afternoon to take a dip.

Great place to wander around and easy pathways. There’s a wading pool with change rooms, paved path around the Fairy Lake to stroll around, children’s playground and plenty of free parking.

Love spending a little quality time here! The atmosphere is such a great one! :)

Best place to hang out on the weekends. It can be quite busy on Saturday and Sunday but it has a relaxed atmosphere on the weekdays which I enjoy checking out the shops during this time. Stroll down the fountain area and sit by the trees. Bring food for a picnic and enjoy the area. One of the better community places in York Region.

Inviting atmosphere and a wonderful nature walk around Fairy Lake. Lots of entertainment , shops and restaurants to enjoy along historical Main Street. A hidden treasure of York Region.

We Visited Ground Burger for their smash burger and was not disappointed. This Establishment is renowned for their burgers and rightfully so. They also have fantastic seasoned French fries although this time they were actually soft and not crispy. They were definitely cooked enough but i can only assume they weren’t served right out of the fryer. The fries are the reason I’ve rated only 4 Stars.

Riverwalk Commons is truly within the heart of Newmarket. Live concerts, outdoor theatre/movie nights, farmers markets… there’s always something happening. On a day when it’s quieter in the area, there is a beautiful, looping trail that goes around the pond in Fairy Lake. It’s accessible for wheelchair and other various mobility devices to utilize year-round, and even in the winter, the paved path seems to be fairly well-kept and clear of snow and debris. In the summer, there’s a clean and open-access splash pad that’s always bustling with activity. There’s a ramp leading into the water, which is perfect for young children or those using mobility aids. In the winter, it’s turned into a skating rink that’s maintained by the town throughout the day and they (may) have support bars available for those less confident in their skating skills. Along Riverwalk Commons, there are tons of small shops and local businesses within walking distance. Walk 500 metres to Main Street and you’ll find a wide variety of restaurants, some offering live music on certain nights. Like many small town Main Streets, it’s family-friendly and bustling with events and activities during the day, although it’s important to travel in pairs and in well-lit areas at night, especially if you’re taking advantage of the various late-night restaurants and local bars. The older buildings are well-maintained and some have been turned into historic sites to learn more about the rich history of the Newmarket area. There are tons of hidden gems and no matter how many times you visit, there’s always something new to discover.

A beautiful place to go and enjoy a walk about. Especially with the main Street of Newmarket right there. It might not be a secluded forest, but you can have enjoyment in doing so. Check it out for yourself. Restaurants and amenities near by.
