Our Training Process

We like to think that when we are training with our dogs, we are teaching them a new language - the human language! Just like us when we learn a new language, when dogs are learning "human", they need consistency, time, and practice.
This is why we structure our private training sessions as hour-long visits with your pup, the trainer and you. In this hour, we will work on several techniques with your dog, and ensure that you get lots of time to practice, too. At the end of each session, you should walk away feeling confident and excited to practice at home with your pup. Techniques learned in each session should be practiced at home between meetings to ensure your dog gets lots of practice and is able to progress. Don't worry - we won't leave you hanging in-between visits - you can always email us and ask questions, too!
At each subsequent session, we will go over your homework from the previous week, and progress from there. Our goal is that you and your dog are having an equal amount of fun in each hour we spend together! We structure each training session and plan to fit the individual needs of your pup and are happy to tweak, adjust, and change up as needed - this is all part of the training journey!

โ โ โ โ โ We took our pup to the leash reactivity semi private training classes with Vicky and had a great experience. Vicky was knowledgeable, made the dogs safety and comfort the top priority, and had very well prepared and executed classes. The activities were tailored to the dogs needs, and we were sent helpful follow up emails about information provided during the class. Prior to these classes our dog used to lunge, bark, and generally feel uncomfortable around dogs when on leash. Since the classes we have noticed a major improvement. Now our dog will calmly watch dogs pass and look to us for treats instead of reacting. Thank you so much!

โ โ โ โ โ We are so happy with our experience at Naughty Boyz for so many reasons! We were having trouble with our dog and fear reactivity. We had tried other dog trainers in Edmonton and had good results, but feel we plateaued in our training and we were stuck at just being able to manage him on our walks - like turning the other direction when we saw a dog or hiding behind a car. We wanted to progress with our training to get beyond management and more into "therapy" for him so he could be a dog that could go out and have adventures and be near other dogs (realistically, he may never be an offleash dog park dog, but we want to be able to hike and camp). We called Naughty Boyz and had a really detailed intake assessment and we were matched with Liz as our trainer. She is excellent with our dog, and is very skilled at modifying our training to meet our dogs needs and our own learning needs. She really listens to us, provides good feedback on how we can tweak what we are doing to get better results. It's very well rounded training as well - even though our primary concern is the reactivity, we are working on our dog's overall confidence, recall, etc. We have done 6 sessions and can now be in the same space as two other unfamiliar dogs with our dog. We are so happy with his progress, we are definitely booking more. We really enjoy going to dog training and would very much recommend Naughty Boyz. We all (humans and dog) love Liz!

โ โ โ โ โ We did the Confidence after COVID class with our pup and it was excellent. The dog had fun and learned a lot, we had fun and learned a lot, and the space was well set up. The staff are amazing, supportive, and friendly. Definitely looking forward to continuing with more lessons there. I've done 3 or 4 different sets of lessons with different dogs over the years and this was my favorite place so far.

โ โ โ โ โ Joining the chorus of praise, I'd like to also offer my sincere gratitude and appreciation for the staff at Naughty Boyz. Having searched high and low for private training classes due to our puppy being a bit reactive, we decided on Naughty Boyz after reading all the reviews. Turned out to be one of the best decisions for both our puppy and her parents. Not only did Tara provide us with great instruction, she helped shift my partner's mindset to better understand our puppy's behaviour. Their relationship has never been better. It's even helped strengthen his relationship with our older dog, too.
We also took advantage of the puppy play school program. Vicky and her staff took such great care of our puppy, interacting with them throughout the day, and giving them a wonderful experience each and every time. We even got a report card with little video clips attached. Really warmed my heart to know that our pup was so well cared for.
If you're looking for a training facility that uses force-free positive reinforcement, understands training and handling reactive dogs, and truly loves animals, Naughty Boyz is the best.

We will absolutely be going back for some more sessions, not only to work on reactivity but to improve our skills and training in general.

โ โ โ โ โ NBDT is a phenomenal group of trainers! Their positive reinforcement training methods made me feel at ease during our reactivity training sessions. After 4 classes of reactivity training with Liz, my dog has gained more confidence and trust in me. Liz gave great information during class about dog body language and how to prevent reactions. She also emailed after every class with homework for the week. I cannot recommend NBDT enough!

โ โ โ โ โ We had a great time working with Liz at NBDT. Liz was super positive, listened closely to our concerns and was able to come up with some very effective but simple strategies to work on issues like resource guarding and leash reactivity.
We'll continue to work on what we learned in the private sessions and will move on to some group sessions. Would highly recommend to anyone struggling with their dogs. The dogs want to learn and will surprise you how quickly they can do it.

Our puppyโs coach was Desiree . She is just amazing. For all 3 lessons my dog became more well behaved and calmed - that what we came for.
And after classes we are still practicing at home and we definitely see good results. We not gonna stop and Iโm sure with Desireeโs help and suggestions we will see even better results!!
