Called to make a complaint about a switch that was taking at least (and I'm not exaggerating) 30 minutes. Talk to the receptionist who gave me a kind of funny sound when she found out what it was and then put me through to the main gate. Talk to the guard at the main gate it was a total a-hole when I explained it to him. And then the a-hole hung up on me mid sentence. What can you expect from Neanderthals!!!!

I have recently began working at National Steel Car and it's been very good so far. The people have been friendly. Now it's not the cleanest place in the world, however they have been in business for over 100 years. Safety is of great importance and I noticed another google guide (Liam Aleman) said that it needed to be shut down before more people get killed. No one has died at National Steel Car in 2 decades, so you should get your facts straight. Since the new owner has come in, Safety is number one.

If i could, i would rate this company no stars at all. I had been coming from a distance away and was trying to get use to the commute for the first couple weeks of employment and had accumulated a couple lf lates that were roughly 2-7 minutes(understandly annoying to people already working.) Which led to my termination. Aside from that i was looking for another place to work immediately after the first day and if it werent for their 2 week unpaid training and my friend that counted on me to get there i would have cut my losses right away. I had been moved around 3 times and forced to rush despite learning the opposite in training. Do not listen to anyone who says incentive is almost guaranteed. They will want you to work through lunches and breaks for the entirety of 8.5 hours to make ends meet. Also even though i had made incentive and stayed overtime, they had me labelled as still training and told me i wouldnt be getting incentive until im no longer on training whenever that would have been. Very unsafe, very rude people, staff, and HR. The longest walk to get to where you have to go no matter your vehicle status Extremely strict Labour law avoidance No reasoning Must spend a good chunk of money while not being paid for certain boots Will expect you to work hurt, and will ask you to not make them fill out a WSIB report so it doesnt cost them money all the while coming into work.

This place is a joke. That huge board outside which mentions β€œwe are hiring” and likewise: Like hell they are. I’ve been trying to apply through a referral since 3 months and let alone hire me or call me for an interview, they pretend like they don’t need new people right now. While the fact is; they don’t want to hand out any referral money and/or they’re racist and/or there is gender discrimination in action. Moreover, after seeing the unhealthy conditions of some employees there, most of us are better off without being a part of this joke.

The most dangerous place I have ever worked at. Don't be enticed by the money. They try every way possible not to give it to you. A worker just died working there and the Health and Safety is non existent. Even the union doesn't give too much care to its members. Avoid working here if you like being treated like a human

Worked there as a welder, no previous experience welding they hired me as a welder trainee. Put me through a 2 week in house training course (unpaid) As soon as I started I realized the training provided was not enough to meet expectations. I was put in turnover, one of the hardest jobs in the place fresh out of school. I had to weld the inside of train cars, everyone else doing my job had been there for 5+ years and had no patience to teach. I asked for an easier position to improve my welding but they told me I couldn't switch until I had 1 year seniority

feels like a sinking ship for the workers; the training was moot & unpaid very dangerous; loud, dark, limited vision & hearing very unfulfilling work; people seemed unhappy and hive-minded this job does not pay enough to afford the living of a single person @ $19/hr, and that's not accounting for layoffs which I was told were becoming more frequenty I don't trust this company

Worst job I will ever have, most unsafe place I’ve ever been. Continuously mislead about everything to do with the job from pay to job security. People will continue to die there with the way it’s run and the higher ups should clearly be investigated for criminal negligence
