Nation Golf Club

This course is well maintained, good greens. The staff are very friendly. There is a good amount of adulation - hitting up to some greens, and down to some fairways. It's not a long course but it is tight. And the greens after quite small. So not the easiest golf course. Recommended as long as you hit the ball relatively straight.

Beautifully kept course with friendly staff, solid fairways, and very nice greens. The cart lady was super nice and even stuck some limes in our coronas which was very cool. I only had two problems with the course. The first was the lack of a back 9 cross over for food and drinks. The other problem (which is a serious issue) is the golf carts. The carts are beyond annoying. They beep at everything and shut down if you are 2 feet from the fairway. I had my cart shut down on my direct route to the cart path. I really can’t understate how much I hate those golf carts… they were clean though! Overall, a very nice course that is suffering from technology. If you hit all your shots straight down the middle 100% of the time, this is a hidden gem! Okay so I’m exaggerating a bit… the course is very well kept and plays super well. I will play here again for sure and hope they tweak the carts a little bit!

Absolutely beautiful course. Well watered and maintained. Played 45 holes today and only paid for 18 and a cart ! Had the cart free aswell the whole time. Some promotion about play till you drop. Recommend it for.sure.

WOW! The nicest course I’ve played in Ottawa. You can take that for what it’s worth since I haven’t golfed many private courses, but this was still unreal. Neat layout and absolutely amazing conditions. I feel like the owners and grounds staff take pride in their course. We didn’t have too many issues with our carts. It legitimately stopped twice but we were clearly approaching a no go zone and I was trying to hug the line. They are newer, comfy and in great shape. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and professional. We will certainly be back, especially since it’s so reasonably priced. Fantastic job The Nation GC team. You already have me thinking of a membership next year for my wife and I! Keep it up.

One of my favourite courses. It's in great shape this year. Pace of play is a bit too slow at times as their time of 8 minutes between tee times is not enough. Also despite a sign saying pace of play is enforced, it is not true. A double-par limit should be observed by all players of every calibure to make it fair and enjoyable for all. Will go back anyway because the layout is superb.

As soon as you drive onto the property you can tell this place is well looked after. Everything is in really good shape and looks manicured. The course is more difficult than it appears, and has a good mix of elevation.

Good track. Tee boxes and fairways could use some work. But layout is fun. Par 71. Greens were gorgeous for May. Staff were very friendly! Remember to pack bug spray or you'll be sorry!

I've played Nation dozens of times over the years with some good and bad experiences; however, last weekend my experience left me utterly disappointed. First off, I arrived 20 minutes before my tee time and was greeted by the starter in the parking lot. He asked me for my tee time - when I told him he rudely replied saying I was late and that my group was next to tee off since the groups ahead of me did not show up. I was left quite confused and told him I was not late and that other groups not showing up are not my problem. I was then rushed to the pro shop window to pay a $60 green fee (for Spring golf) and proceeded towards the tee box where the started stood eagerly waiting for us to tee off. At this point we were still 5 minutes away from our tee time and still waiting for the last player in our group to make his way to the tee box. Again, the starter continued to rush us to tee off and repeated that we were late while condescendingly explaining that it's unacceptable to arrive late for a tee time and that our straggling group member would have to catch up to us on the course. At this point, I mustered every last bit of my patience to restrain myself from flipping on the old man and told him I didn't appreciate his attitude and rushing me and my group on the fist hole. He immediately shut up and walked back to his booth while we waited for our last member to arrive, which left us all in a state of frustration and agitation (the exact opposite of what one would want when teeing off on the first hole). Unfortunately, the experience with the staff did not improve from there as we were heckled by yet another marshal on the third hole to ring the bell as my friend was walking towards the bell to ring it... My friend replied to the marshal informing her that the bell clapper was broken but she completely ignored him and kept driving away. Very professional! Now for the course conditions: In short, I'm convinced that there are courses in better shape on the Gaza Strip. I'll admit that throughout the regular season the course is usually in decent shape; however, this weekend 50% of the total fairway surfaces across the course were completely dry and burnt. I understand that this is Spring golf but the conditions were beyond the "normal bounds" of Spring golf which made it quite difficult to hit from the fairway. I'm usually not one to complain about bad or mediocre experiences but my last experience at Nation left me dumbfounded. This is not the first time that the staff has been rude or unpleasant and I've always be able to brush it off; however, this experience pushed me beyond my limits. Needless to say, I will not be coming back. Good luck.
