Employee Review: I was hired at the Mustard Seed for overnight work. I filled out all the paperwork they needed. When on the job I followed all the basic instructions provided to me by the supervisors. When I gave feedback one night to the supervisor about luggage that they were incorporating she decided to take my feedback and do exactly what I said could work better. Now, all the staff and supervisors were friendly. Everyone said I was a good fit. I am extremely passionate about the community here in Edmonton so I genuinely enjoyed working here for the 3 shifts I was there. I was hired for not even a week. Worked 3 shifts. One shadow shift, one 5 hour and 1 over night. Then I received a termination letter saying I no longer worked there. When I spoke to Nicole from the HR department she said for legal reasons she can’t tell me why. I am the type of person that I want to grow and when I asked for feedback I was given none. While on the job I was given no constructive criticism on how to improve whatsoever. So if there was an issue I don’t understand why no one spoke to me?? Everyone said I was a fantastic fit. Supervisor took my feedback and ran with it. So this termination was genuinely very confusing. I did every instruction that was provided to me regarding the position I was given. Everything was literally perfect. I am writing this because I want to let whoever know that was responsible for this that out of many employees they could hire, I was probably one of the absolute best fits for the Mustard Seed Shelter. If you knew my background and saw how I was there you’d understand why I was perfect for it. My business is currently out of order due to COVID. My husband is in a position atm where he cannot work and I am pregnant. So not only did you take money out of my pocket you also impacted my family. Giving a one star review due to the lack of values I believed the Mustard Seed stood for. Lack of communication. Unorganized all around. Didn’t stand for what was in the contract that I read. Now the shelter itself 5 star review 100000%, fantastic things going on there. A lot of services provided and it’s 24/7. But this is an employee review so I don’t believe that deserves 5 stars. If you plan on getting hired or already hired watch your back and always prepare another job behind that because they may randomly terminate you without any reason.

Good place to get a hot meal. The staff is very friendly and helpful..merry Christmas mustard seed!

Nice drop in centre and free coffee. My only problem is the line budders at the entrance.

Aggressive Volunteers who Bully and Intimidate in efforts to get their way when it comes to certain policies or rules in place at locations where the Mustard Seed serves. Reflects poorly on the Mustard Seed organization displacing trust and any confidence in the service of the organization.

Well after all these years. Today was last day there ever open. Been going there since 1970. I know one thing the government idiots and sure takin away little something homeless people have. And place call home
