Since 2005, Mark Herman and Katie McDowell have placed as 1 of the Top-10 mortgage brokers (of more than 100 offices and 1,800 agents) at Canada’s largest mortgage brokerage, Mortgage Alliance. In 2013 they were the #1 mortgage office in all of Canada, based on total value of funded mortgages.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I am shocked to see all of the good reviews because this was the rudest guy I have ever spoken to. I couldn’t even get my full sentence out before I was told we would never qualify for a mortgage despite having an income of $95,000 a year and 0 debt and a credit score in the 700’s.
I was told he had no idea where my other broker got the numbers.
Clearly he was wrong as I was just approved for a mortgage of $700,000 by someone else. Only after this guy had me in tears telling me I would never qualify (without even waiting to hear all my info or inputting any numbers). When I said I had been told differently he said “I don’t need to advertise with fake numbers people just come to me and I’m the best mortgage broker in Calgary”
Well apparently not when I was just approved for $300,000 more than he told me I’d be.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We dealt with Mark and Katie for our mortgage. The process was smooth, simple, and easy to navigate. Compared to our bank we found a better rate and preferential mortgage terms, and managed to purchase a property with which we are very happy.
Sure it might have been slightly easier to click the “apply for a mortgage” button in our bank’s app, but the ten minute phone call with Mark to get set up has saved us thousands of dollars through this term. We are paying an obviously lower rate for what to me was a superior level of service. Both Mark and Katie answered questions very fast, even outside of banking hours, when the bank was taking sometimes two weeks to reply.
Excellent service, highly recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The reason is share this 5 star review is the complete honesty and trust I have in Mark Herman. He is truly helpful - he was talking to me after hours and before hours, even during dinner time because he is so invested in his clients and his profession!
All other mortgage brokers told me they could get me approved but then tried to stick me with different lenders with different products that I told them from the start I didn't want. At the end of the day I had to come to Mark to get the information told to me honestly, and the numbers ACTUALLY explained to me. I recommend trying Mark and his team before going anywhere else.
