About Medicentres Family Care Clinics

Over three decades ago, two Edmonton physicians had the vision to bring accessible health care to Albertans on a non-appointment, extended hour basis. Making that vision a reality, in 1979 they established Medicentres, which is now the largest group of medical clinics in Western Canada.

Medicentres continues to grow and evolve. We now have 30 walk-in clinics in 8 Canadian cities with over 300 employees including nurses, receptionists and associated health care personnel and almost 200 practicing physicians. Many of our walk-in clinics now include a variety of specialists who work in consult with our family physicians.

Our physicians care for patients in a traditional family practice through scheduled appointments, and on a walk in basis while also providing episodic care through our Fastrack Program. Designed to deal with minor injuries and medical issues, prescription refills and immunizations, the Fastrack Program provides you with the next available appointment.

Employers will find assistance for their workers through Occupational Injury Services, pre-employment physicals and drivers’ exams. We also provide Immigration physicals and a host of other uninsured services.

Each year, thousands of patients visit our clinics, and have come to depend on Medicentres to deliver quality health care for everyone.

I advice strongly to stay away from this clinic. After coming here for almost 10 years I am so done with this place, the phone is never answer, appointments are weeks apart, the doctor is away for months, waiting times are horrific, you go there as a walk in on the registered open hours in the website and google, and they are either closed because the doctor didn't show up, or because they feel like it who knows... or they aren't accepting any walk in's for the day. So if you wanna go and waste your time go there. I give them 2 stars because the Doctors are good but as always super rushed. And Head office people is RUDE!! why you even bother to put a "costumer care line" if you are going to be grouchy about the complaints. Never again!!

Phoned receptionist to ask if an appointment was available today for my daughter's ear ache. She proceeded to lecture me about making appointments two days in advance...

Very unhappy and frustrated with this clinic. I have been calling from 4 weeks. Either the phone is busy or when it rings no one picks up. You can not even leave a message, as you need to know mail box number. After seeing many similar concerns on google , I believe Medicentre is responsible for all this mess as they are allowing this to happen, ignoring customer feedback. I will not go to Medicentre again.

When you call to make an appointment the receptionist will keep you on hold for 15 minutes and this happened to me many times. When I asked why then she told that she was alone so she has a lot of things to do. Why can't they have at least two people there.

It makes me sad that there are so many negative reviews at this clinic. I first visited the clinic in 2017-2018 and saw Dr. Michael Starko who is sadly no longer at the clinic. When I was searching for a new doctor in December, this clinic was one of the few to actually respond to my requests for a new doctor. I've been seeing Dr. William Campbell since January and he seems willing to listen to patient's concerns. Staff have been friendly to deal with. My only complaint would be that it is very difficult to get through to the clinic on the telephone. More often than not, I have to leave a message. So, if I were to offer any constructive feedback - it would be that. To have an easier way to get a hold of the doctors when you need something like updated paperwork. Edit: I have updated my review as of November 2021. I'm disappointed to find out that Dr. Campbell has switched locations temporarily and was not notified by the clinic. I've also been waiting for referral appointments since Feb-March and have not received calls from the clinics. I'd appreciate a follow up response from the clinic about this. Updated again: the office is still hard to get through to. Can't something be done about this? Dr. Campbell is amazing. But it's frustrating reaching office staff.

I had the good fortune to meet Dr.Wingnean at this location a couple years ago .He is currently my family Doctor and has been outstanding professional and has really made a difference in my life. The office staff is always courteous and efficient, going the extra mile for patients repeatedly .?????

I cherish the medical care I receive from Dr. Khurram but am appalled by the clinic's day-to-day operation. Dr. Khurram always acts like she's glad to see me. She remembers my medical issues from one visit to the next. Among other things, she identified a lump that turned out to be cancerous, and she probably saved my life. On the other hand, I dread having to phone or visit the clinic. This morning I've been trying for half an hour to phone to book an appointment, and cannot even get through to speak to anyone; it just rings' busy. Whenever I finally DO book an appointment, I take along a book because I've had to wait as long as 90 minutes past my appointment time to actually see the physician. Lousy administration, ZERO respect for patients' time. The medical care is superb but the corporation is too cheap to have adequate phone and reception services. I don't like feeling like an unimportant blip in the corporation's revenue stream, rather than an actual human being with a life outside of the clinic's inadequate administration.

I had an eye infection and came in around 12:30 as a walk-in. I was told that there was one patient ahead of me and that it would be no more than 30 mins to 1 hour and that I had to leave and could not wait. I left and came back after an hour to where I saw patients were seated and was told to have a seat. I waited another hour then was moved into a room waited 30 mins and then moved to another room. I know their are patients that have appointments that are to be prioritized but I think staff should have been honest so that I could have went elsewhere. So unprofessional. I waited a total of 3 hours and 15 minutes to which point I just left. Absolutely ridiculous. Im pretty sure they let other people ahead of me that were also walk in because waiting room changed several times as I left to check.
