Our Office prides itself on our awesome service and follow up. It is what we are known for. And while I did not manage to contact the client immediately that day , as I had a pressing personal matter to attend to, I did follow up within the hour with an email to the address on file, indicating a brief explanation of the situation, and that I would follow up the following day, which I did at 11:30. Mr. Ciambella posted his review at 9:40 am the day after he called. I was very shocked and surprised to see this review, even though we really had done nothing horribly wrong. In fact, we were the ones that contacted this client to inform him of the existence of the processing review for his son, and the staff member that he spoke with promptly forwarded him a copy of it electronically, at his request, so he had a copy for himself. Up until that point, he was not even aware one was sent from CRA at all, and my have missed it altogether if we had not followed up with him. Funny, he never mentioned those points at all. In addition processing reviews have become a very standard follow up tool for CRA. Given how frequently they ask to see original documents now, this is a cost I could no longer absorb as I used to and two years ago began charging for this service which is clearly noted in bold on my engagement letter at the front of the tax return. We send a complete package to CRA with a cover letter. It is submitted electronically and we are provided with a receipt of submission for proof that is was done on time. These documents are scanned and saved to the client file for future reference. Mr. Ciambella faxed his documents in, likely without a proper cover page to reference the documents sent, which may very well mean he will have to do this again, as documents frequently get lost when sending in this format. Our process is thorough and does take time, and I do charge a fee based on how many documents or schedules we need to access and send. The pricing of our returns is very fair. In this case, three returns ranging between 110 and 135 with various slips, including tuition and transfer, medical . They were not one slip tax returns. His total cost for all returns was 370 plus HST. If he was unhappy with the pricing of the tax returns he certainly did not indicate as such when he came to sign. In fact he was not involved in the process at all until the very end. Up until that point I believe all communication had been with his wife. Based on my review of the situation, I think this client's reaction was both unfair and unreasonable. We really did nothing wrong. The only thing that happened, apart from being more expensive than he wanted, was not being there to answer an immediate phone call so he could express his anger directly at me at that moment. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but in this case, I think his comments are unfair and extreme. At the end of the day you get what you pay for. An inexpensive product generally is of inferior quality to one that costs more. Short cuts are cheaper, but in the end you may be unhappy with the result. We offer a quality product for a fair price. We don't do short cuts. If someone is only looking at the price, they may be missing something in the end. Tax returns are important. It should be important they are done well.

Expensive and rushed for personal tax services in my opinion. I was not able to talk to the accountant before she did my taxes (I even asked), I had questions as this was the first year I was filling common law. They charged $40 extra to put in about 5 medical receipts for my girlfriend, asked for a $100 deposit before hand, and then took more afterwards. Then I received a letter stating that my girlfriend and I owe the CRA over $200 dollars each. This is why I had questions and wanted them answered beforehand. Filing with H&R again next season. Why pay more and get exactly nothing for it? On the plus side, they were polite and close.

They have been our personal and business accountants for just over 5 years now. They do great work and are always there to answer questions you may have in a timely fashion. As a small business owner, it is a great feeling to be able to drop off a months worth of invoices, bank statements, receipts etc and know it will be done right. If you want your books done, go to anyone. If you want them done right, use McKee Accounting.

We will NEVER use them again, here's why: We were looking for a new accounting firm to file taxes for us after our accountant retired, simple returns for 2 adults and one student... The fees were not cheap, expensive actually ~$420!!! So we thought we would be OK and if any issues came up they would handle. WE WERE WRONG!!!! CRA requested a "processing review" and instead of McKee simply handling this by sending the 2 documents to CRA for us via email, they quoted $90!!! I promptly asked for a copy of the letter and handled myself. The whole process would have taken them 5 minutes but instead they tried to take another $90 from us.... what a ripoff, especially after paying good money for the returns. Before writing this review, I tried to discuss the matter with the owner but she never returned my call... McKee, sad to say but you could have used common sense and avoided a horrible review! We will never do business with you again.
