We drove to the fair from Montreal. The short woman with short hair at the entrance was very rude to us and very sternly said "No dogs! Leave!". We were unaware and had our small dog in a bunting bag. We have never experienced such inappropriate and unprofessional customer service. Unacceptable. I will not recommend going back as long as she is working there. No where was it indicated that no dogs were allowed.

No where does it say you cannot bring your dogs there. Well today when I was there with my cousin and our dogs, some elderly man in a white truck came up to us and rudely told us that this was our last warning (no ones ever spoken to us before), to not bring our dogs back and to leave now. I said “there are no signs anywhere saying no dogs”, he then proceeded to get angry with me and I’m a small girl so we just dropped it and left. Signs should be put up if dogs are an issue at the fair grounds as I see this isn’t the first incident like this on these reviews.

There is always a good time to be had at the Glengarry highland Games, generally the first Friday & Saturday of August every year, at the enormous Maxville Fair Grounds. There are vendors, concessions and food of all sorts, including traditional Scottish fare as well as Canadian foods. One can take advantage of the patrons pavilion, a tattoo and the beer tent, featuring live music, dancing and general revelry. Dancing, piping and drumming competitions take place over the course of the weekend, as well as traditional Scottish highland games, including caber and sheaf tossing (no sheep tossing, tho), hammer throws and other feats of strength. Championships, premiereships and pipe band competitions include the highest grades. This is the largest highland games in eastern north America. To complete the event, massed bands take to the field several times over the course of the weekend, numbering in the hundreds. Parking is free and Camping available on site for a fee, for tents or for recreational vehicles. Bring your tartan or plaid hats and clothing and celebrate being a Scot for the weekend. Slaínte!
