About Martensville Sports Centre

Martensville Community Recreation Project

Martensville Community Recreation Project (MCRP)

The Martensville Community Recreation Project (MCRP) is a local organization formed by a group of volunteers who work together in an effort to fundraise for a multi-purpose sports facility in the City of Martensville.

Our Goal

MRCP’s ultimate goal is to provide a year-round multi-purpose recreation facility for the residents of Martensville and its surrounding area.

The multi-purpose facility will provide space for minor hockey, adult recreation hockey, CanSkate, Figure Skating, food services, ball hockey, indoor soccer, lacrosse and meeting rooms. These spaces will be used by local area groups for the benefit of these groups/teams and their families. This facility will be available to all sport, recreation and cultural groups requesting space for their programs. The City of Martensville will allocate the space to the various groups making a request and all groups will be given equal consideration. However, with an increasing population in the City of Martensville and thus an increase in enrollment in hockey, figure skating and soccer, these clubs will be the primary users of the facility.

Our City

Martensville is a growing community about a 10 km drive north of Saskatoon. With a population of almost 8000 people and growing it is Canada’s second fastest growing city. Martensville is a vibrant place for business and recreational activities with a community oriented atmosphere.

Martensville’s Sports Complex

The Martensville Sports Centre is home to minor hockey teams from Initiation right up to Midget, a Figure Skating Club, Rec. Hockey teams and a Curling Club. We also have numerous Public Skating & Shinny held throughout the winter season. An upper mezzanine is also utilized for tournaments, fundraisers, and other special events.

The arena was built in 1984 with a Curling Rink opening in 1986. The arena has 5 hockey dressing rooms, 1 figure skating room and 1 referee room. The ice size is 85 x 200 and has a seating capacity of 600 and 150 standing. The artificial ice plant provides the opportunity to start the winter season a little sooner than normal. The ice is ready for public use around mid August or early September.

As the population of Martensville increases, the enrolment in ice sports also increases, thus creating a large demand for a second ice surface.
