Our group was supposed to arrive on snowmobiles but had some issues with one of the machines and couldn't make it. Zoe was very understanding and was able to help us out with our reservation

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stayed at the pines cabin last fall and just booked again for end of November. It's a lovely cabin with everything you could ever need in the kitchen which is perfect because we enjoy cooking (Even while on vacation).
The host, Zoe, made check-in very easy, and she was attentive. Cute private firepit area with chairs and a picnic table outside which made for a relaxing evening.
Perfect home base to our day hike trips to Algonquin! The town of Dorset is very cute - and we are looking forward to exploring it more on this upcoming trip. There's also supposed to be some great trails locally - which we haven't tested out yet. (I believe at least one of which is within walking distance). Also the dorset lookout tower is within walking distance - but I think climbing the tower itself is still closed due to covid. (Apparently still a nice view - even if your not climbing the tower.)
Please note that garbage will need to be brought out with you since there is no local pick up. Zoe has posted the local dump stations above the garbage. Unfortunately the dumps were closed the day we were leaving BUT we just brought it home with us. No big deal.
This will be our 'spot' anytime we want to get away to Algonquin area.
UPDATE AS PER OWNER RESPONSE: Not necessary to bring garbage home. Theres other options.
TO OWNER: To be fair - we didn't even check with you. It honestly wasnt a big deal to us at all! I've also lived in the country without garbage pick up. It's a fair trade off! ;)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Zoe is an amazing host. We booked the Birch cabin. She offers great local trips and amazing hospitality. Her place is nice and cozy, perfect for a weekend getaway! It is such a great little place, the cabin has everything you could ever want or need. The BBQ and fire pit seating area are great too! (You get an amazing view of the night sky) Would love to visit again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Cute and cozy. Host was very nice. Would visit again. A small complaint.. the kitchen lights were very dim, far too dim to be used at night. However, if this is a mistake on our behalf I will gladly edit this review. That aside, cute and isolating. If you're into that, you'll love it. There is always a red-eyed vireo singing somewhere in the distance, if you're into birding this is a good place to hang out in between trips.
Note: Zoe (the hostess) read the review and obviously there is consideration for her guests as she supplied us with a lamp to use the day after this post.
