Mama’s Rice Bowl

I've been going here for almost a year and have introduced this place to so many of my colleagues and they all love it! The owners are the kindest and most wonderful people you'll ever meet. Their hospitality and service never fails me.. Would treat me a drink once every while on days I didn't feel like getting one. I drop by to have my lunch at least twice a week and I usually get their bulgogi rice bowl and Alex bowl... All so very delicious. 10/10! I do hope they would expand.. They have so many loyal customers.

Cute little family run eatery located in the lobby area of an office plaza. When you open the office door, the fragrant aroma of delicious food let’s you know you’ve come to the right building. Just footsteps ahead around the corner under the stairwell, is Mama’s Rice Bowl. We ordered the Bulgogi Cheese rice bowl, Spicy Chicken cheese rice bowl and a Cream of mushroom soup. The rice bowls each had a bed of rice topped with the selected protein, including some grilled Kimchi and a small portion of Japchae. This made for a yummy hearty lunch. The family is very friendly and welcoming, making recommendations for first timers and greeted regulars by name. Most visitors order take out and there are three small tables just in front where you can enjoy your food as well. Definitely a good quick lunch spot if you are in the area during a week day.

Really fresh, tasty food. This is the first time I've gone here but I'll definitely come back. Ordered the Korean wrap with beef and it was delicious and very filling. Meat was juicy and flavorful, veggies were fresh and they grilled it up for some crunch. The presentation was very nice as well. For the price, I am definitely satisfied with the portions and taste so it's an easy 5/5. The Korean couple that run this place seem very nice and are polite so that's another positive thing about this joint.

Ordered a spicy pork cheese rice bowl. Savoury rice bowl with a good portion at a good price! The owners were very friendly and welcoming. I will try other dishes when I go around Gilmore station again. ?

For $12 and got a rice bowl, it was super good. A korean takeout ricebowl as you can see here and i barely find any restaurant that can fit my high level of spicyness and this is one of them! Totally a hidden gem in Burnaby since I added the business and no yelpers have found it yet. Come here and give it a try! The store is inside the building just on the left from the main door. Cheers! Recommended! Update 2.0: got to try the meatlovers, alex rice bowl and the tuna rice bowl. And they were all super good. The alex rice bowl is the least from all but the tuna rice bowl was super tasty. Especially the meatlovers are so massice and so worth it. You wont finish it and let the rest for your dinner. Cheers! I hope this feedback helps! Update 3.0: This time i tried the california rice bowl and it was okay. I think the tuna rice bowl is better. Definitely worth more. Just your friendly reminder which one to get at mama's rice bowl! Cheers!! Update 4.0: i was able to get the daily special today of the poke bowl and the chicken teriyaki donburi. I personally think the teriyaki bowl is quite good and the poke bowl was just basic honestly. I didnt feel the daily special was as good as the mama's rice bowl. Honestly, i just realised the name of the store isnt mama rice bowl, but it is cafe lunch pia. Its time to fix it unless the owner think mama's rice bowl is a more catchy name because i think it is! Also, from trying many different dishes everyday, i personally think you should use medium grain rice and more water so that it is more sticky and less dry. You should try it! It fits better for a rice bowl! Update 5.0: Another day of trying the daily special of the beef teriyaki bowl and teriyaki salmon bowl. Both of them are great but the salmon beats the beef for sure. Looking forward to trying another daily dish! And got free pops per bowl today hehehhe thank you! Cheers! Update 6.0: Another day of trying its daily special. Today it got chicken katsu and chicken schnitzel wrap, and i personally think they serve it better than suzette deli. So this is definitely recommended from me! Update 7.0: Today, it was very crowded and almost everything got sold out. It is so good to see a local business having a busy day like this, and that is why i keep coming back to support local business. Today, i got the kbs rice bowl and mushroom soup. Mushroom soupd reminds me oh la la from jakarta, and it was good. I think my favourite rice bowl is now the kbs rice bowl. I personally think it is very flavourful and savoury. Cheers! Update 8.0: Today i tried another daily special of the butter chicken with additional of the bulgogi wrap. The bulgogi wrap is good but the bulgogi focaccia from suzette delis is better. The butter chicken it outstanding in my opinion. Even though the rice doesnt suit the rice bowl, the rice actually suits for the butter chicken. And it isnt too spicy and got the right taste. In my opinion, the butter chicken is the most worth it daily special! Cheers! I hope this feedback helps! Update 9.0: today, i got to try the veggie rice bowl and the bibimbop. The bibimbop was okay just like suzette delis so i wouldnt recommend the bibimbop. However, the toffu and veggie rice bowl tasted so fresh in your mouth. Not a vegan but i personally love it. It helps brighten my day something i would recommend you guys to get. Nonetheless, this would be my last review for mama's rice bowl. The perfect clubhouse sandwich doesn’t exist… until I discovered the Big Clubhouse at Mama’s Rice Bowl! On my quest to find my favourite clubhouse I stumbled upon this lil Ma and Pa place located in an office building. Service was amazing and the people are so friendly. They gave me a free pop with my sandwich. ?? The sandwich itself looks visually satisfying with all the layers and colours and tastes absolutely scrumptious. Only downfall is that it was difficult to bite into as it was so BIG! If I worked in this building it would be hard not to eat here everyday. ?

I felt Mama’s love! I was having some health issues lately and my appétit dwindled… until I stumbled across this little mom and pop shop after my dental. I had the Alex Bowl (with smoked salmon), and it was like a little miracle to me! The appetizing colourful display (despite the take-out bowl), the wonderful aroma, and the delicious taste - all came together so perfectly - I swear I felt the love, care and the culinary flare of the chef(s) - I believe they deserve to be called chefs! I surprised myself and finished the whole bowl! It was very therapeutic! Thank you Mama!

Must try this hidden gem in the work bc building! I love the spicy chicken rice bowl, super yummy and filling. The perfect lunch for any day. Very good pricing as well! They have specials everyday too, the owners are super sweet, they wrote down all the specials for me on the receipt! Excited to try everything else on the menu!!
