About MainStreet 1908

This historic landmark was built in 1908 by the Camrose Chapter of the Canadian Club. Their mission was to promote Canadian patriotism, share ideas, and help communicate important news from the Prime Minister to the citizens across the country.

In 1918, the building was sold to the government. In the decades that followed, it was occupied by various government offices, such as the District Agriculturist office.

The Provincial Courthouse operated out of the top floor between 1931-1957. A second stairway was added to the front exterior, along with a private stairway off the back to allow access to the judges quarters.

My husband and I visited this wonderful cafe today as part of our staycation. Our lunch was fresh and delicious. We also had a coffee and homemade milkshake for the trip home. Thank you for your great service and we will be back again.

This is a beautiful, timeless place that respects the history while offering a cozy and modern environment. The staff here are kind and accommodating, and the food is fresh and never disappoints. More impressively, the cost is better than any other restaurant. If you're looking for a place to feel like home - food and all - come to 1908. Amazing!

If you find this helpful, give it a thumbs up! Customer WiFi: yes Washrooms: yes Power outlets: yes Pet friendly: no Parking: Street angle parking Food/Drinks: coffee was good a little stronger than what I'm used to when I get it but still good. The lemon bar was a little disappointing thou as it was very gummy and chewy with very little lemon flavor. Service: barista was nice. Didn't talk much but we got what we needed. Atmosphere: quite serene little place good for a heart to heart chat. Love the amount of comfy couches that they have available as well as the quirky decor pieces. Always thought this place was a law firm or something from the outside. If you found this helpful, let me know by leaving a thumbs up!

Maybe we just thought this place was great because we had been camping for a few days, but I don’t think so. The food was genuinely good and the coffee was lovely. The owners are also very friendly and take the COVID thing pretty seriously, which is good to see.

Very cool atmosphere and the treat selection was fantastic! I had the iced chai latte and it was very tasty. My son had ice cream, the portion was huge and the ice cream was tasty. Highly recommend!
