The post by Anne Peterson is as a regional estate and trust administrator for MD. That is she is an employee of MD trust and seems to enjoy her work! My experience with MD is different. As brother-in -law to their client, I have been made painfully aware by one manager (with a condescending attitude) of several examples of incompetence and unprofessionalism. Update: 18 months later (March 2020) My experience with MD has only gotten worse. Acting as POA for my sister-in-law, they mismanaged her affairs in several different ways costing their client well over $5000. AFTER I brought this to their attention, they sent a letter of apology and a cheque. We fired them is POA and removed our funds from MD Financial. We placed are assets with other top line financial managers that charge 30% less in fees and produce better yields. Acting as executor for my brother-in-law estate, they took two years to bring things to a conclusion despite the fact there was only one beneficiary, two if you count the government, three is you count MD! At the very end we had two problems with misdirected or mishandled mail. I sent an email to try and resolve the latest problem but did not receive any response. This was the final straw that prompted this update. To list but one example of their unprofessionalism, I would mention the ordeal in selling the deceased's car. We indicated that we would like to sell it to a relative or to take the car from Vernon BC to Vancouver to sell it there. We had agreement from the estate manager but, just after we arrived from Toronto to pick up the car, we were informed that MD had engaged the local auctioneer to sell the car. Fortunately we were able to cancel that arrangement at the last moment. MD then made us jump through hoops of changing ownership and insurance to my sister-in-law before driving the car to Vancouver and then transfer ownership again in Vancouver. Within one day we had several offers yielding $5000 more than the anticipated auction result. I could go on and on but - Bottom line - if you are a doctor, don't think that because you have this organization dedicated to MDs that this is a great thing. It's just a marketing scam.
