Very rude Dr and does not help

One of the best compassionate Doctors, a patient could hope for. At one time he cared for myself, my wife and three sons. Always there when you needed him, always above and beyond the call of duty. Although, we met each other as Dr. and patient, over many years of health care, I would also consider him a friend someone you could have personal discussions with. Great guy , unfortunately, he moved his practice, and we stayed put. Our loss.

I am not writing this review lightly. This is the first time that I am rating a professional with 1 star but in this case, I believe it is warranted. As you will see from other reviews I have written, I always give 5 star ratings however I cannot possibly give a good review in this instance as it would be unfounded. Our family doctor of 15 years retired a couple of years ago and our file was transferred to Dr. Lyznyk who took over the practice. Shortly thereafter, my mom decided to switch to a different family doctor as she found Dr. Lyznyk to be somewhat abrasive and rude. I only had 1 appointment with him a couple of years ago. At that time, he seemed quite desensitized from his profession and to put it diplomatically, his abrupt nature did not resonate with me but I did not switch doctors at that time. Fast-forward to this afternoon, my brother was in a car accident 6 months ago and I told him to go and see Dr. Lyznyk as he was seeing patients in his practice and see if he could help because my brother's family doctor was not being responsive and due to COVID, was only accepting patients over the phone. My brother also had another health issue that Dr. Lyznyk treated by prescription. To make a long story short, my brother had a follow-up appointment this afternoon and tried to discuss with Dr. Lyznyk the pain related to his accident and the experiences he is having since the accident and that he cannot sleep. Dr. Lyznyk was quick to point out that he will "not go near an accident that happened 6 months ago" and that my brother should wait until his family doctor responds. We just needed his assistance in the meantime because my brother was experiencing a lot of discomfort and he basically dismissed the entire situation and acted as if it did not concern him. All we asked for was a requisition form for a CT scan and MRI to see in detail the issue that my brother is experiencing with his back. I found Dr. Lyznyk's response was unprofessional and completely devoid of human compassion and I was very upset by the encounter. I understand that at times, certain people do not resonate with each other on a professional level however this is the 3rd person that I personally know that has had a bad experience with this doctor. I understand that some people have had a good experience with him and I am not taking that away from them. I am sure the reviews are genuine but as far as I am concerned, he is not the kind of doctor that I want taking care of me or my family because in my opinion, he is not caring and does not try to do the best for his patient. My former family doctor was fantastic and my family was with him for 15 years with no issue so I am extremely disappointed at Dr. Lyznyk's conduct today. My hope is that Dr. Lyznyk may read this and change his approach with some of his patients because essentially the Hippocratic Oath states that you should do whatever you can to help your patients and that is exactly what I asked him for today. If I had known this is how it would have turned out, I would have never referred my brother to go and see Dr. Lyznyk. I can say with clear certainty that me and my family will not be returning to Dr. Lyznyk for any future treatment.
