Formerly Downsview Services for Seniors, but in an attempt (albeit futile) to change their poor reputation, and how they're perceived, they still can't grasp that it's the field staff and coordinators who do the brunt of the work, only to get little to no credit. The Managers are almost satirical versions of what a manager is. No insight, lack of any real compassion, only care about their contracts and the bottom line. Then there's Danielle Dang. Dang it all, if she isn't the most pretentious, ostentatious, superfluous employee there ever was. Contributes zero, but her horse is somehow higher than that of William Wallace. She epitomizes everything that is wrong with this organization. Factually speaking, not one employee there has ever had a nice thing to say about her. And well, that's all there is to say about her.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hi. This company is contracted to the Toronto Housing Community Buildings. They are located inside one at Jane and Wilson. The quality of the staff is poor and supervisors look to fight. It's almost like they pick up these people off the street to help these vulnerable seniors in subsidy housing. I know my family was there, they don't like when you refuse there service. CCAC has multiple complaints about these agencies around toronto.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There was an employee there, her name was Laura Lavalee, a manager of client care, I believe. She was so friendly, open and ready to answer any questions I had. I've never been made to feel so welcome and appreciated and because of that I will recommend your organization to anyone I know in Ontario. If your team of employees are anything like her there then I am confident that it's a great organization looking to make a difference. I will definitely be making donations here this year!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lumacare changed its name from Downsview Services for Seniors in an attempt to refresh and renew its reputation. The name change made no difference.
It appears the executive team are more concerned about visual appearance rather than functional service. Poor quality of staff. I wish there was a local agency alternative to Lumacare for providing services to our vulnerable seniors.

Lumacare strives to promote a healthy, safe and engaging work environment for staff, it's an awesome place to work!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Support workers can be better trained. They provide a service, but lack that little extra which makes a client feel safe ad comfortable. My mother received care, but the support worker was sketchy and items were missing everytime she visited.
The day programs described by Lumacare sound great, but in actuality are not as good as described. The lunch program can have a better menu and better food.
Lumacare boasts it’s inclusion and diversity provisions, especially within the LGBTQ community, but clients belonging to the LGBTQ community are treated not so positively and shunned by the personal support services representatives.
