The atmosphere is nice, the service was great but the restaurant can get a little loud so if you want to have an intimate conversation it might be a little hard. But overall I really enjoyed my experience here. The drinks was tasty and they have a pretty wide selection regardless of your poison. Also, overall food here was pretty good and tasty; the only downer for me was the turmeric crepes for the duck. I think it’s a play on the Vietnamese crepes but nothing like it as these were soft and soggy, it would have been so much better if they were hotter and crispy. That being said, I would still go back to try more of their menu and if you go with a couple of people you can pretty much try everything as their menu is meant to be shared.

Absolutely amazing dining experience! I don’t even know where to begin. But everything about our meal at LuLu Bar was perfect. I can’t wait to return. Definitely make reservations if you’re going on the weekend. It was quite busy already at 5:30 pm on a Saturday. The staff were courteous and friendly. Our server was prompt with our orders and made sure we had everything we needed. We started with drinks. I got the Guava Mai Tai - perfect pairing for the food we ordered. I wish it had a bit more guava flavour but I’d order it again. My friend got the Venus, which she had previously at Lulu Bar, and was very happy with her drink. We ordered 4 smaller plates to share - I’d recommend sharing dishes as each of them have such unique and intense flavours. This way you can sample them and get a good balance of flavours. The food came out super quick. We got the Salt and Pepper Pork Belly first. It was crispy but tender, not salty at all. The sauce was kinda tangy and sweet. Highly recommend. Next we got the Steamed Lobster Dumplings. These are a must have. They were super flavourful. The dumpling skin was soft and the meat inside was well seasoned. You get an explosion of lobster flavour inside. The basil and tobiko were the perfect garnishes. And the sauce was to die for. Next we got the Beef Tongue Skewers. These we my absolute favourite. They were smoky, super tender, and again, very flavourful. Every bite was amazing. If you’ve never had tongue before, these are for you. Next we got the Fried Coconut Squid. Again, these were amazing. The batter was super light and not oily at all. This was the most tender squid I’ve ever had. The pieces were thick and incredibly delicious with the light sauce. They were slightly spicy which made them addicting. Lastly we got the Baked Hula. We normally don’t get dessert but since it was a birthday celebration, we had to try it. We’re so glad we did because it was super good. The Kona coffee ice cream and hazelnut cream paired so well together. The chocolate sauce wasn’t too sweet and the dark chocolate crust was slightly salty. It was the perfect balance of flavours with the smoky meringue. It does get quite loud inside and the tables are quite close together but overall we enjoyed the ambiance. We had such fun table neighbors and enjoyed being able to socialize with them. With every dish that came to our table, our neighbours would follow suit and order the same thing. They even cheered when our dessert came out. It was such a fun environment. Everything was amazing and we will definitely return! Edit: My friend is Celiac so we made sure to ask the server about which dishes were gluten free. He assured us that everything on the menu was GF and safe for her to have.

We got a table on a patio in February, in Calgary... How incredible is that! Food presentation and taste were great. Service was friendly. I am surprised for the taste of thai sausage, pretty good and closed yo Thai taste.

The service was good but what blew me away was the food and drink. We got the calamari as a starter, which was truly excellent. Not greasy, huge pieces of squid and accented nicely with pineapple and the sauce. We shared the duck which was more food than we expected and truly delicious (you get duck two ways plus some picked vegetables, lettuce, wraps and two sauces). Highly recommend that dish. We also got the fried rice which was also good. They have some unique cocktails which were really good. They also have a good beer list. It isn't cheap so I'd say it's definitely a special night out but it was worth the price to me.

Fusion is a great way to reinvent or bring a twist to dishes. Sometimes trying too hard ends up with something that's just not appealing. Thankfully, Lulu Bar has done a fantastic job taking inspiration from Vietnamese, Thai, Hawaiian cuisine, among others. The restaurant was quite busy, so do make a reservation for a spot ahead of time. Once seated, the service was top notch. Everything served was delicious, from the cocktail, to the beef tongue. The chef played off the acidity of the pickles with the richness of the tamarin chili jam in miso cured egg. The crispy new potatoes were a surprise, a dish that sounded average, was one of my favorites. But once it came down to the dessert, my choice of rice pudding with Thai basil was "interesting", not bad, not stellar, but certainly memorable. A serious A+ on the house spam, but nothing is really like the real stuff...ask any Hawaiian. A wonderful night, will certainly come back.

It’s was second time in a month. First time when I was there, it’s so busy but everything was so nice. There are enough staff was there so I don’t have any problem. Today I went there to celebrate my girlfriend became Canadian. It was so nice. Not too much people and enough noise, and wonderful drinks and foods. Thank you so much Adrian, hopefully I remember your name correctly.

Came on a Thursday evening around 630pm and it was definitely getting pretty busy. Would recommend reservations if you can. They have a covered patio area as well as lots of space inside. Service was pretty good and location is great, right in the heart of the bar/restaurant district in Calgary. The food was pretty unique and for the most part flavourful and enjoyable. Their beer selection wasn't the greatest, but the beers they had were pretty good (I ordered an IPA and wife ordered some cocktail) Prices are pretty reasonable, and it's the type of place where you order many small dishes to share. The stand-out dishes were the lobster Dumplings but surprisingly not for the lobster! You could barely taste any lobster at all actually... But the skin of the dumpling was made from tapioca and was really good flavour-wise and texture! The coconut calamari I enjoyed quite a bit as it was crispy and very coconutty and paired well with the tangy dipping sauce. Beef tongue was pretty good and well cooked, tender and not chewy. Pork belly I enjoyed but wife found dry (as other reviews mentioned). They probably could've cooked it a little less. I liked it crispy. Overall this place tries really hard at the Asian flavours and gets a lot right. In a sea of of pubs and plain jane Western-style restaurants that flood Calgary, this is a really nice fusion restaurant that's worth a try.

First off, if you want to have a fantastic evening and a fun night out - this is the place. If you’re going out for a few cocktails, or a decadent dinner Lulu bar is the place to be. Make sure you book a reservation as it can be quite busy, and that’s a good sign. They have a large covered outdoor patio and beachy, mid century decor inside. Their cocktail menu is extensive, creative and amazing, and their food menu is to die for. You must try everything, as every dish contains flavours like you’ve never had anywhere else. The lamb was delicious and the plating of the meal was beautiful. Our server Megan is one of a kind and delivered the best possible dining experience we could ask for. She was knowledgeable about every last detail on the menus, answered all our questions and guided us through one of our favourite culinary experiences to date.
