★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is not a criticism of the QB Lifelabs, rather of the communications between doctors and Lifelabs.
Today, after standing in line for 90 minutes, I was informed at the desk that they had not received the request from my doctor from yesterday afternoon. Apparently, it can take 24 to 48 hours to reach Lifelabs, and the comment that “doctors don’t understand that”. So, has Lifelabs informed our doctors of this?
In comparison, my doctor contacted PharmaSave at the same time, and a prescription was ready 2 hours later.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rude lady at the front desk. Over the years she glares at clients when she orders them to approach her desk as though their very appearance is ruining her day. No normal greeting behaviour. Grabs the doctor's paper and snorts to go online, as if to say, "Get out if here!" The Parksville lab has the same type of person at reception. The other staff at both labs are very nice.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My criticism is over one specific receptionist that works here. I came to drop off a sample and was told by a woman if I am just dropping something off I can come inside and don't need to wait outside to be assisted. There was only one other person in the lobby room and I was keeping my social distance from them, and wearing a mask, yet the receptionist gave me a dirty look and said in a very rude voice, basically shouting, that I need to wait outside. I also noticed she was being quite grumpy and rude towards the one other person in lobby room that she was assisting at the time. I find it very off-putting that I was told I could come inside and then was yelled at to wait outside again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I got to the Life Labs in Qualicum at 2.55 pm only to be told that they were closed and that the Parksville Life Labs were open until 5.30 pm, I guess we should of phoned, but on google it says there open until 4.00 pm!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ These are trying times for everyone, for essential workers as well as non-essential workers and we need to be kind and warm as much as possible. One of the receptionists by name of Shelly is particularly rude, short, and almost bully-like in her attitude towards the incoming people. I was exposed to this myself, and then watched her for the 75 minutes I was there waiting. Most folk were timid as mice under her harsh tones. I am an essential work myself and boy, if I behaved like that, I would be out of business. Perhaps time for her to change her job, or have a long long staycation.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Staff were kind today even though there haven't been enough of them for months at the QB clinic. The online check in feature is hit or miss, today I arrived with 13 minutes before my check in and was there for two hours before I got in for my test. Definitely come dressed to stand outside for a long time and if you have problems standing I'd recommend bringing your own chair or stool for the wait.
