"When you find an employee with character and work ethic, those people are your golden people - people you'll do anything to build up," says Craig Fawcett, president of Lethbridge Custom Canvas in Lethbridge, Alberta. Fawcett and His family moved to Lethbridge when his father bought the company in 1989, and he draws a straight line between the success of the business and success of employees.
Before buying the company, Fawcett worked as a sign language interpreter at a school for the deaf in Puerto Rico. Although he loved the job, the beginning stages of carpal tunnel syndrome let him know that, for him, a lifetime career of signing was unlikely. At the same time his father was looking to quit his job as sales manager of Calgary Tent and Awning (Where Fawcett had also worked in the past) and buy his own business. He purchased the awning/tent portion of Duncan Canvas in Lethbridge and he and Fawcett began building the business using their combined knowledge of the industry and innate people skills. After his father retired, Fawcett and his wife Noreen, took on the full responsibility of running the company.
Fawcett consider's everyone who comes through that door to be a part of the family and they will be treated with the love and respect a fellow member deserves. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went there to look at countertops. They had a small selection in stock. Talked it over and was told they would cut it for me that day. I was in a hurry for a countertop and bought one. As soon as I paid the full amount for it I was told they would not get it ready for me till the next day. If I had waited one more day I could have gotten one cut from Rona for thirty percent less. I bought here and paid extra for service then didn't receive that service. I was quite upset that the time changed as soon as I had paid. Never again in the future I will just go to Rona for the countertops I need for my rentals. At least I will save the money. I should have known better behind the till they had a bunch of signs that were supposed to be funny about customers turns out that's what they really believe. I cannot stress how much that ticked me off getting told they would cut it that day so I could have it latter in the afternoon saying ok paying and then being told it will not be ready till tomorrow! Never never never again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I needed some material to be waterproof and windproof which they provided, and even offered the right glue to do it myself if I wanted and also offered the heat seam sealing. I chose the glue, and it worked perfect on the material chosen. It has stood up to the solid west side winds with no problems. Very helpful staff and they back their work.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We rented 6 -20x20 tents for our sons wedding and a dance floor. Lethbridge canvas were wonderful from the beginning with advice and assurances that their tents would not blow over if windy--a big concern in southern Alberta haha. They set up the day before the wedding so we had plenty of time to decorate and set up tables. They provided lights that strung along the supports so really we didn't do very much to decorate. The tents were beautiful, the dance floor was full and we had a wonderful wedding reception. It was so nice to not have to worry at all about the tents. I highly recommend Lethbridge Custom Canvas.
