This place has given me the run around since I signed my son up in 2018. They said he would placed at some point soon and it turned out to be approximately 6 months later. He got bounced around a couple tutors until he landed on his current one. Last year, I got a call and the lady said she thought my son would not be a good fit because of his attitude. I was confused as I was unaware my child was having issues at this establishment. I said it was kind of stupid that you would say he's not a good fit before letting me know this was an issue so it could be brought up to him and could be dealt with as humans are supposed to do. Bring it to today, I get a call stating that his tutor got promoted and will not be tutoring my son anymore. Good for her, super happy for her. However, this place knew this was in the works and should have given me some sort of heads up so my son isn't losing out on valuable help for his schooling. Only option I was given was to go on wait list, as I mentioned, was long and wasn't likely going to be placed any time soon (and my kid will be placed else where in Sept) or that tomorrow is his last session. Super unprofessional in my opinion and super judgmental place and don't deal with parents until they are asking for your kid to leave. They have all these rules in place to protect themselves, but they put themselves first and not the well being of the kids . It should be about the kids first and not the other way around.

Working with others who are passionate about the cause and motivated by purpose is a unique environment.I would describe our team as talented, creative, collaborative, inclusive, open-minded, with a great sense of humour. What I love most about my job is the flexibility, work-life balance, and opportunities for growth and advancement! I feel very supported and valued, and look forward to helping move the mission forward and making a bigger impact in my community!

We are so fortunate that we found LDS when we moved to Vancouver! They helped with transitioning to a new school system and providing my son the remedial support he needed to be successful. The staff has been extremely supportive and knowledgeable. I do not know where we would have been without LDS.

For the last three years I have been involved with the students and parents coming to LDS to take advantage of their specialized, scientific and data-driven help through individually tailored tutoring strategies for the students in need. Staff keep improving programs and the results are heartwarming and life-giving to these special young students. I wish I had found them 5 years ago!

LDS instructors, staff and board members are integrally connected through a shared passion to support children and youth with special learning abilities. LDS core values are shared by all at LDS, creating a positive, respectful workplace environment. At the LDS year-end celebration it was inspiring to hear so many moving “Mission Moment” stories of dedicated, thoughtful, caring and compassionate individuals positively changing the lives of LDS students. And the LDS spirit continues to rise with the ongoing hiring of additional instructors and staff, the building of new partnerships and the increasing amount of support from generous and thoughtful individual and corporate donors – all enabling LDS to help more children and youth in our community.

It is inspiring to see an organization like LDS make an impact in the community of Vancouver by helping kids in need of learning support. Personally, LDS has inspired me to start a UBC tutor volunteer program for high school students in need. I hope LDS continues to grow and reach as many people as possible such that they can receive any support they need.

I have been inspired by the work that LDS does for the over 7 years I have been involved there. They have grown from a small tutoring agency to a professional, research-based organization whose reputation has grown in Greater Vancouver. We have seen the kids and parents arrive desperate for support. We have seen them, after a few sessions, leave the agency with their lives turned around for the better. It is the most rewarding experience I have had in my life. I am proud to have helped to contribute to building this model of excellence.
