Acquiring real technical skills and understanding of the film from origin of an idea to the final product. I enrolled in the program with little or no knowledge of the industry but come out with a work ethic instilled which is respected in the field. Highlights would be that irrespective of the stream everyone shared and learned producing films and the curriculum is intelligently designed to provide great learning opportunities with small class sizes and individual projects critiqued by instructors. The program is an intense 8 months with a curriculum equivalent of a 3 year film school to bring out the best in one and find collaborators to work with after school.

Langara film arts program is intensive and very practical. Not only it trains people to develop their skills as filmmakers but it also fosters individual artists. I am very confident that Langara Film Arts program can get you started on living your dreams as director, writer, or actor. It was a massive experience working with the students of 2016 and learning about cinema from the best professors out there! The courses are taught in a way that if you ever need to dig deeper into any subject or self study it, you know what track to follow and where to begin your research. When I want to remember all my unique and adventurous experiences at the Langara Film Arts, I look at the two short films I directed and produced as a student in the year of 2016.

Would recommend to anyone! teachers there are amazing ! They truly are there to support you through the whole everything including after.

In this program you will learn about technique while working alongside your classmates. The groups are formed with only a few people and that makes the classes more focused and personalized which makes them even better. Instructors are dedicated and knowledgeable. They teach you that making a film is indeed a collaborative process. On set you will gain experience working in different departments, which will expand your knowledge and have a better understanding of what the whole process involves. I strongly recommend it!

The instructors really know what they are talking about and offer so much experience to the students. Students in this program will get a taste of practically every department on a film set, giving them a clear view of where they want to go in the industry. Whether in the Acting, Writing, or Directing stream of the program, students all get to produce their own films and see exactly what it takes to make a movie from pre production through to post production. I highly recommend this program.

Through the directing stream and with the help of the incredible instructors of the program, I was able to learn so much and grow as a filmmaker. The program is intense, and the teachers are amazing. You get your feedback from different angles and through diverse film exercises, not just writing. I recommend it 100%.

The teachers are both passionate and professional with many years of experience from which they draw to provide both interesting and useful classes. Having the three different streams (Acting, Directing and Writing) combine to create a plethora of short films, students are given the chance to create, explore and produce work that is diverse and meaningful and get a hands on taste for what it takes to create a short film from start to finish. I want to thank Langara and the teachers at Langara for all their hard work and for an incredible 8 months!
