Lakehead Models was opened in October, 2003 with the idea of creating a store for people that share the joy of building, flying, racing or just enjoying scale models. The business has evolved, over the years, based solely upon the requests and needs of the customers. Today it is a comfortable store, like no other, where you can come in and share your experience, enjoy your hobby or introduce your children to a hobby you enjoyed as a child.
Lakehead Model & Collectibles is open Monday through Saturday, serving the needs of model hobbyists and RC enthusiasts. Located at the corner of historic Bay Street and Court Street. Here you will find the largest selection of plastic model cars, tanks, planes and Sci Fi models in Northwestern Ontario. If you don’t find the RC plane, helicopter or car you are looking for, we are happy to special order the item you are looking for. John Pelletier, a seasoned and well respected RC flyer, as well as other experts, are often at the store and are happy to share their vast experience and knowledge with you.

Their selection for the models is excellent, they are always very well stocked, and they have more items in the back that aren't on display! ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you are a modeler in Northwestern Ontario, this is definitely the place for you to visit. I'm a model railroaded and can always find what I'm looking for or ask that it be ordered. It will be waiting for me the next time I come in.
There is a large stock of other hobbies, including Aero models and parts, plastic models of cars, trucks, SciFi kits, paints, tools and so on. Just about anything you need is on the shelves.
It's in a great location as well in Port Arthur, with a nearby coffee shop/bakery, a couple of Finland menu Restaurants, a Finnish bookstore and a very interesting pub across the street. A comic shop is just down the block as well.
