Mark has provided exceptional physiotherapy and clearly cares about his patients. He demonstrates kindness and compassion while addressing your concerns. It’s refreshing to have a therapist that is able to look at your condition from multiple angles. Highly recommended.

Peter is the best physiotherapist I've ever worked with! Really appreciate his holistic approach, as well as his warm and friendly (and not intimidating!) demeanor.

Beth is the best! I’ve seen her a few times over the past few years and will continue to see her. She is very knowledgeable and explains everything to me (and makes sure I understand before moving on). I always feel comfortable during our sessions and leave with a plan of attack :) Other wonderful things about Lab Health: Their receptionist Kayla (who is so lovely and always quick with replies), their James Bay location (complete with parking available), easy to use online booking system, and direct insurance billing. Thank you for providing quality services!!

My back has improved steadily since I've seen Mark these past several weeks. Every session I come away with something new and constructive to work on. He's a great listener who really hears my concerns and specifically addresses them. I wish I'd seen him months ago when I first hurt my back!

It is often said that β€œfirst impressions matter a lot” – this is true whether you are going out on a first date, going for a job interview, or, in this case, giving a review of a local health clinic. In my critique, I shall only focus on the physiotherapy modality at the clinic since this is the only therapy that I have experienced and can give an honest assessment. I had injured my dexterous arm from a fall earlier this year (2021) and had decided to seek physiotherapeutic treatment. My first decision was to decide on which of the two nearby clinics to go to. After perusing their websites, I decided to go with the clinic with the smaller venue - James Bay Lab Health Physio. This clinic is located in a heritage house in James Bay and my first impressions, after my first visit, were positive. It has only two rooms – one is used as an intake and discussion room while the other is a treatment room. Both rooms are fairly small; however, it allows you to feel comfortable working with the physiotherapist and discussing your condition candidly, and learning recovery exercises in privacy. I have been to larger clinics before where clients are often separated by curtains and the physiotherapist is β€œpatient hopping” – e.g., leaving a client on a traction machine and tending to another client. This type of multitasking leaves an impression that you are not receiving individualized attention and treatment plan. The rooms at Lab Health Physio are clean, organized, and emits a sense of equanimity. As for the physiotherapist, I went with Beth Bates, co-owner of the two clinics – Esquimalt is the second location. She has an impressive list of credentials including two master’s degrees (MPT and MSc in Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology). Beth is very professional, knowledgeable, attentive, competent, organized (both time management and equipment placement), and affable with a great sense of humour – I feel welcomed every time I go to my sessions! Since my injury is somewhat long-term, I am currently still seeing Beth and would not hesitate to recommend her for anyone seeking an exceptional and experienced physiotherapist. Finally, I apologize for this verbose review; however, another old adage comes to mind as I wanted to β€œpaint” a comprehensive picture of my experience at this health clinic – β€œA picture is worth a thousand words.” Thank you, Beth!

Beth has such a knowledgeable and relatable, down-to-earth approach that sets you at ease immediately. She explained my challenges to me in a way I could understand and the care and support she provides are the best I’ve ever had. She referred me to Kinesiology which really has steered me in the right direction for healing. I highly recommend Lab Health to everyone I know and care about.
