Gordon Kirkby was admitted to the Saskatchewan Bar in 1985 and is a partner with the KIRKBY FOURIE COERTZE law firm in the City of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Gordon was born and raised in Saskatchewan. Gordon graduated with a Bachelor of Science Advanced in Mathematics, magna cum laude and a law degree from the University of Saskatchewan and has practised extensively throughout northern Saskatchewan, developing strong ties to various local communities in the province. Gordon's knowledge of government workings was greatly enhanced by his service as mayor of Prince Albert, followed by being elected as a Member of Parliament. Gordon served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General for Canada, Chair of the Standing Committee for Natural Resources, Chair of the Standing Committee for Aboriginal Affairs, Northern Development and Chief Federal Negotiator. Gordon is also a past Member of the Board of Governors, University of Saskatchewan and the Board of Police Commissioners in the City of Prince Albert. Gordon has extensive experience in all areas of Aboriginal law, including constitutional litigation, regulatory law, Specific Claims, governance and business development. Gordon's 30+ combined years of experience in the legal and political arenas has allowed him to be particularly effective in a wide range of legal work helping to develop productive relationships between various local communities, companies, and/or governmental entities. Gordon also has extensive experience as a criminal defence lawyer at various levels of court. Gordon, an avid hunter and fisherman in his spare time, lives in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan with his wife celebrated Canadian author Mary-Ann Kirkby and son Levi Kirkby.
