Not really an enjoyable experience. Chris provides an alright atmosphere for the most part. Snacks, beverages and some funny stories about "The old days." However, the course was pretty tailored to men. And the subtle bits of sexism and blatant stereotyping got on my nerves. In addition, Chris would forget things I said minutes earlier and seemed disorganized through the practical portion especially. Pretty marginal teaching just generally when handling the actual firearms. All in all, I'm just glad it's over.

Late January my wife and I signed up for a February 23 class. We received an email from Chris on Feb 1 stating the class was full. He said they had room available for March 10. The same day we emailed him back and asked him to sign us up for the March 10 class. We emailed Chris back To ask for confirmation of enrolment for the March 10 class. He told us it was full and he had signed us up for the March 23 class, which never once did we say we were interested in. He also said in his email that β€œwe had emailed about this date” when in fact, we emailed about Feb 23. We then emailed Chris and told him we weren’t interested in this class as he seemed a bit unorganized. Instead of looking through his emails and realizing his mistakes, he emailed back and said we had embarrassed ourselves by mentioning his lack of organizational skills. I was really looking forward to taking this course in Kelowna. After this experience, I will take the time to drive out to Vernon and take it there. Chris-customer service is an important part of any business. It would be one thing if we were wrong, but I’ve read the emails over multiple times, and it was definitely your bad. A simple apology and I may be writing a different review. I hope you take this as a learning experience. All the best. Kyle

I had a great experience taking the PAL and RPAL course this April with Chris Rogers! He has a very experienced background and shares his experience and knowledge throughout the course. Provides manuals you can take home and study with before writing the exam. He is very patient and invites questions. There is both auditory, visual and hands on training, will even let you come in early to practice on the day of the exam. Also provides tea, coffee and snacks, and did a draw for a prize at the end of the course! Would highly recommend!

Chris is a great instructor and willing to go the extra mile before during and after the course. He helped me with my first Trap Shotgun purchase and took me to a few different clubs to get the feeling of it. I would not hesitate to recommend Chris to anyone looking to take there firearms training or CORE training.

While Chris can be a bit hard to communicate with over emails and texts, he's an older man and I will completely forgive him for that. He's a great instructor and I never once felt that he was directing the course geared towards men. I loved his teaching style, audio, visual and written. He is very thorough with his direction and I enjoyed getting taught by him. I also enjoyed getting taught by a conservation officer with direct experience in the field. He provided coffee, cookies and doughnuts. Which was a great touch for long nights. Will reccomend Chris to anyone looking to receive any gun licensing or hunter training. Thank you Chris!

Very informative firearms course with Chris Rogers! I did the PAL course last summer and found the class quite enjoyable. My husband also took his course a number of years back. As other reviewers have mentioned, Chris does a great job teaching in different stylesβ€”auditory, visual (including some old but useful films, complete with a cheesy truck ad), and kinesthetic. I had used a bolt-action before but being able to handle each firearm types (all deactivated) and their different actions was useful in getting me comfortable with how each worked. Chris gives you a lot of time to practice using each. The CFSC Manual is available to be loaned out from the class, but I ended up downloading the free 2014 PDF version online and reading through (just Google for it). Safety is important so I'd highly recommend looking through it. Hot beverages, cookies, and doughnuts were a nice touch. Testing process was fair and Chris doesn't try to trick you. He just wants you to be safe and think through the scenarios. After you finish the course, Chris will be happy to take you out to go trapshooting or even help you get fitted with the right gun. Highly recommend his course! Pics from a couple days of trapshooting with Chris while the COSSC was being built.
