The fault is on me for not double checking, but there is no indication that these guys are not vegan friendly, they use lard in their pie crusts and tart shells, we were unaware of that and didn't think to ask as we never come across lard. Again my fault for not checking, but some signage warning people of such would help others in future. The cinnamon roll (which I checked about and was told did not contain lard) was delicious

I bought butter tarts, rice krispie squares, marshmallow squares, butterscotch cream pie and a banana loaf. I wanted more but I will have to go back another day for sure!

The butter tarts are on the thicker side and don’t ooze out. The crust is buttery and flakey. You can also find milk, pirogies, and other local items inside.

I used to think the same unit I went the butter tart factory and realized nobody made a good tart including Gordon Ramsey! Kawartha butter tart factory has the best tarts world wide! I highly suggest you give them a try! I bet you will be hooked after one bite

They are quite good but a bit different than I had before. The filling has a more solid texture but very good. I bought a pack of the mini assorted plus a couple of regular ones to try. While I was in the shop I checked out their other items. Everything looked good, the doughnuts in particular. If I lived here I would certainly shop here often. I visited the one in town itself.
