About Kaleidoscope Pediatric Consultants

Kaleidoscope Pediatric Consultants is an association of community pediatricians.  We are dedicated to providing expert and comprehensive medical services for infants, children, and adolescents with diverse medical and developmental needs. Our services are accessed by way of referral from family physicians, other medical specialists, midwives, and some other health care professionals.

Whether it is your child’s first visit to our office or a visit for ongoing follow-up, we strive to make sure you and your child are always comfortable and informed. Please note that consultants are specialists in pediatric medicine. Many of our patients have more complex medical and behavioural needs and are therefore continue to be our patients until they transition into adulthood (i.e. 18 years of age).

Typically, if a patient has not been seen by their pediatrician within a year, then a new referral is required by a primary health care provider.

We continue to recommend that children have a primary healthcare provider (i.e. Family Physician/GP) for routine medical checks. Please discuss this with your provider if you have any questions or concerns.

Dr. Melanie Purtzki is an awesome doctor. I was right to choose her as my newborn son's pediatrician. Thanks Dr. Purtzki!!! I will highly recommend her!!!

Dr. Palmer was extremely condescending and treated my son and I very negatively. He actually brought out a face chart to attempt to try to push a FASD diagnosis which my son does not have. He had a list of prescriptions armed at the start of the appointment (at least 7...) despite everything we had talked about for the duration of the appointment and the intake forms I filled out. This is all old school Doctoring...time to MOVE OVER and make room for those with a patient-centric approach. I encourage you to find a healthcare provider who actively and intently listens so they can develop a partnership between patients and their families. Someone who suggests individualized treatment options but more importantly prevention and early detection procedures that is aligned with each patient's unique characteristics and goals. My son and I have never left an appointment more rattled by this individual's actions.

During "convid" appointments weren't made for our two children since they weren't sick or needing attention. We called to make an appointment for our oldest as she has needs and meds. Because we haven't been to the office in over a year and our pediatrician has retired, our children are no longer able to see a doctor at this place. Insane that if you don't see or visit the doctor all the time they just release you from their "network" and we are now meant to find special care somewhere. No referral. No last appointment or any sort of apology!

Dr. Melanie Purtzki has been an invaluable part of my daughter and son's team. She is amazing at answering the most in-depth questions, open to adapting to new information and prompt in responding to questions called in or problems that arise.

The Doctors here are okay, don't feel like they listen very well however the front staff make appointment setups completely unbearable. Seem completely miserable and are so extremely rude over the phone.

Staff was less than friendly, except for one man at the front who was wonderful to speak with! As for our doctor, he was dismissive and did not listen to my concerns. Didn’t seem to have the time. My husband took my son to an appointment and the doctor took me not being there as a chance to tell my husband he must pressure me into giving our baby food that he was allergic to. After seeking a second opinion, our new doctor has confirmed that I was correct in not listening to this paediatrician as giving my son the food would have sent him into anaphylaxis and possibly could’ve killed him. This clinic is a joke, take your children elsewhere.

Love Dr Amy Chow. She's great, listens to my concerns. Very willing to work with us. And investigate anything I have questioned or am concerned about. Willing to work with other health professionals to get their impressions of things they may have seen(like speech path) I don't seem to have issues getting my kids in at all. Or switch to phone call appointments when kids where sick(during covid) I recommend Dr chow to everyone !

Dr. Palmer is awesome. He made a comprehensive examination of my son, listened to my concerns, read all the answers of the questionnaire and asked many questions. He spent lots of time for my son and did not rush us at all. He also communicated with my son kindly. I was so relieved after seeing him and was sure that he didn't miss anything. Also his staff were amazing. The receptionist, a very friendly and polite gentleman, helped us. The nurse, a very kind and nice lady, measured my son's height and weight and blood pressure. Thank you Dr. Palmer and staff for making doctor's appointment a great experience for parents and children.
