K & D Transitions

First of all, I am not a bitter or disgruntled employee. Ive been working in the field for over 18 yrs and I have never been employed by a company that's only focus is on profit and not the people they support. The owners, Karen and Dolly are two of the most dispicable people you could ever work for. They come across as caring and understanding but deep down they only care about themselves and profits. When I was interviewed for the position I was told it was a transitional home and I would be teaching the boys I'd be working with life skills so they can eventually move out on their own. I was also told there would be lots of outings with the boys. There are zero skills being taught at this home. The two team leaders prepare all the meals so the boys never learn how to cook. In the one year I worked there I did not go out on a single outing with the boys. In fact it was frowned upon taking the boys out. Instead they sit in their rooms and game for most of their days. Staff are nothing more than glorified babysitters. And then you have the endless daily notes in the communication book saying 'don't do this and don't do that' directed at staff. The staff are treated like children by management and watched daily on their cameras set up in the units. They installed cameras in all the units claiming they were put in to record the boys incidents. In truth they use the cameras to spy on their staff and go out of their way to find fault with what their staff are doing on shift. And to make matters worse they invite their two team leads over to watch staff on camera. I decided to leave after I handed in my resignation back in December 2018. I had brought up a list of valid complaints to Karen including staff mentally abusing residents to a sexual assault on staff. I was given her word that she would investigate my claims and get back to me (I voice recorded the entire 40 min conversation). She also refused to accept my resignation. A week later I was called in and given a verbal and written warning for an argument I had with a team leader who was the focal.point of my complaint. After I left they immediately contacted certain staff and asked them to say that I'd done something wrong so they could fire me. This is the most unprofessional company I have ever worked for in my career. These people treat their staff like criminals, there is non-stop gossiping being done by team leaders and most importantly, the people they support are not having their needs met. I would recommend any person who works in this field to avoid K&D Transitions at any cost.
