Member of Eabametoong First Nation, Joanne J. Cheechoo has two decades of experience working with indigenous communities. Joanne studied Aboriginal Business Management and is trained in all aspects of financial administration including: project budgets, funding proposals, bookkeeping, accounts payable/receivable, payroll and remittances, disbursements, bank reconciliation, and other day-to-day financial tasks.
Joanne’s past roles include: Finance Manager at Kiikenomaga Kikenjigewen Employment & Training Services (aka Matawa Employment & Training Services); Matawa First Nation Post-Secondary Coordinator; Education Counsellor at Eabametoong First Nation Education Authority; and many other project management and education roles.
With a certificate in Native Counselling Training under her belt, she’s an excellent educator who enjoys supporting First Nation communities with engaging presentations and workshops.
As wife to one, mother to four, and grandmother of three, Joanne is a master multitasker who knows the importance of being incredibly organized!
