Roland did a fantastic job installing our new water heater. Our crawl space has a low overhang and is very difficult to work in, but with a lot of hard work, he found a way to get the job done. Reasonable pricing and very knowledgeable. All in all, we'll be giving Roland a call then next time we have any plumbing needs. Thanks so much!

Our rental house had a hot water leakage when we were away on a Sunday. The tenant didn't know how to turn off the power after the water was shut. So they contacted Island Plumbing & Mechanical Ltd to turn off the power because Island Plumbing & Mechanical Ltd was a block and half away from our house. Over the phone, Island Plumbing & Mechanical Ltd quoted $1450 to replace the hot water tank to us; we accepted the quote because we just replaced ours 2 months ago with the same hot tank from the same manufacture. Our tank was smaller and so we paid $200 less. We checked and confirmed the price difference, knew the quote was comparable. We would have like to call the plumber we use before, but our tenant already reached out to Island Plumbing & Mechanical Ltd. While still away, our tenant told us over the phone Island Plumbing & Mechanical Ltd was not trustworthy because they asked our income. Island Plumbing & Mechanical Ltd also charged to our credit card $1942 which is close to $500 extra. Island Plumbing & Mechanical Ltd eventually returned $100 back to us, but I would not want to use it any more in the future. We also want to ensure no one else would be ripped off by Island Plumbing & Mechanical Ltd. In summary, Island Plumbing & Mechanical Ltd charged extra $500 for a few minutes of work to turn off the power on a Sunday. Event if we pay 2.5 times the normal of rate of $70 per hour. It was only $175. Remember, his original quote was $1420, which would have covered the extra labor cost. Nov 1, 2020 update: I don't expect Island Plumbing & Mechanical Ltd to admit the wrong doing, but the owner did call me right after my review; he said I would get in trouble because his son was a lawyer. He asked that I remove the review. The owner also said "you won't get a single penny back". I told him "you didn't get it; I didn't want to get money back. I just want to provide a review as I had promised". I told him to setup a meeting and I looked forward to meet with him and his lawyer son. He has not setup the meeting yet. We paid for $1228, which was $200+ less than the replacement because ours was smaller. We checked and confirmed the prices difference was under $200 and so we knew the quote was comparable. Ours included the expansion tank. As Island Plumbing & Mechanical Ltd claimed, my husband was a nice guy. Yes, Jim didn't want to report Island Plumbing & Mechanical Ltd's wrong doing, but he said he didn't want to have anything do with Island Plumbing & Mechanical Ltd anymore. I am a senior software developer and I am still working. Whatever was said about my screaming or other words were simply untrue. On the other hand, my husband was retired.

I recently bought a house and wanted to make the change from an oil furnace and electric hot water tank to a natural gas furnace and hot water on demand unit. Roland came recommended from a friend who had recently had some plumbing work done. Boy am I glad we hired Roland. Right off the bat, before we could get started with the gas, I had a plumbing blockage that limited our use of any sinks in the house. Roland was there the next day to clear the blockage. He then installed a cleanout in the area where there should have been one originally, so that the next time I have a blockage it is easily cleared. I appreciated that he let me watch and learn as he worked - I learned some valuable tips for a first time home owner not familiar with plumbing. He also put me to work (at my request) to do some of the easier tasks to reduce his hours and save myself some money on the reno. Once the gas meter was installed by Fortis, he was there the next day to hook up the hot water on demand, and the furnace shortly after. Everything has been working perfectly and we are really happy with the furnace and hot water. As the renovation dragged on, Roland was more than happy to help in other areas, such as installing the shower base and fixing some old and questionable plumbing. I really appreciate the communication from Roland, he called me regularly to schedule visits and responded quickly when I texted him any questions. We're really glad we hired Roland and would recommend Island Plumbing to anyone looking for reliable and professional plumbing service. Thanks Roland!

I hired Roland to help me install a new gas hot water tank to replace my aging electric unit. I found him responsive and willing to engage with me to find the right solution for my needs. He actually spent quite a bit of time talking with me before I actually went ahead with anything, and he wasn't pushy. I especially appreciated that during the install, he was willing to let me watch and learn something, as many contractors don't like that. Now my hot water tank heats very rapidly and will work with no power, as I get tonnes of power outages in the winter. I would have no issue recommending his services to anyone.

Twice now Roland has saved my butt (literally) when we have had plumbing leaks and catastophes. He knows his business, is professional, down-to-earth, and strikingly trustworthy. He really explained what was going wrong, and provided us with an understanding of both emergency repairs we could make, and plans we could implement in the future. I give him my highest recommendation!

Island Plumbing is very responsive, professional, and reliable. Our hot water tank burst the day after the snowfall. Despite being closed during the holiday, Roland ordered us a new tank, brought it over, and installed it within a day. Furthermore, Roland is a fantastic human being. Our hot water tank broke over the holidays - on a holiday Monday Roland answered the phone and came that same day (all other services we reached had messages saying they would call back the next day). He was very knowledgeable about the products and worked efficiently and was very tidy. He was very courteous and knowledgeable about the product installed. He responded immediately to a concern about a related appliance we had 1 week later, with a quick visit and remedy. I wish we had discovered Roland sooner, he will be our go-to plumber and gas person.
