★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Unfortunately, we did not have such a great experience. Booked bikes for four hours and were already a little disappointed as they looked neither new nor very well maintained. Started our tour nevertheless only to have nearly an accident after two hours when my wife shifted into first gear upon a steep hill and the whole gear shift derailleur got into the wheel and blocked it completely. Fortunately this happened at near standstill and therefore nobody got hurt. I eventually managed to move the derailleur away from the tire and at least we could move back to the store (in highest gear).
The guy at Island Cylce was polite and sorry and agreed that such a thing should not happen. As his boss was not in he could not give us a partial refund (least that we would have expected after not nearly using up the four hours and not having done anything wrong) or any compensation except offering to give us a replacement bike for the remaining hour (which we declined as we would have had only one hour left and also no more confidence in the safety of the bikes).
Overall a quite disappointing experience.
