This museum is the historic homestead of the Ireland family. Easily accessible off Guelph Line. Staff were all friendly and I enjoyed the guided tour. It would be nice if the museum restored the top floor and provided access to the workers' quarters.

This place has been around for ages and I've driven by so many times and read about it periodically in the news, but have never stopped in for a visit. Boy - that was a mistake! I was actually floored by what I found here during a fundraising event and was surprisingly & pleasantly impressed at this little hide-away in the city. Talk about stepping back in time! And the staff dressed in period costumes were more than willing to share the history of the house and times. Well worth the visit and history lessons learned!

The museum closes at 4, not 430 as suggested by Google. We reached at 350 and were told we had 10 minutes. Still, the volunteer have us a "quick" tour, just that she was lovely enough to take us through it all very thoroughly and in the most interesting manner. The tour ended up being 40 minutes. She stayed late to accomodate us, which she absolutely did not need to, and we were so grateful for. A must visit!

We have had great experiences with the school break camps in the past, so we were excited to try the homeschooling program being run during covid. It was AMAZING. We had the whole place to ourselves, and I was impressed with the protocols in place - lots of sanitizer, hand washing, and distancing. We made two really neat crafts, learned some interesting history, and got to bake gingerbread men in the historic fireplace! The staff, especially the kids' program leaders, are phenomenal - they are excellent with the kids, and present the history in such an interesting and interactive way. I recommend trying any and all of the programs here!

This is an enjoyable local museum with a wealth of youth programs that are affordable. I appreciate the selection and variety of the activists. It is a small is a local museums on a small plot of land that you'd almost miss it. Complete with a gift shop tours and staff that dress the part. This place is worth a visit as it always has events for people to partake in. Parking is available, handicap access and prices are reasonable.

What a delightful historic home museum in Burlington. Why did I wait so long to visit? The house is beautiful and in such good condition, definitely felt like stepping back in time. The knowledgeable guide was friendly and obviously enjoyed her job, sharing with us many entertaining tidbits of information. Plenty of parking, and lovely grounds that would be great for picnicking in summer. They encourage photos with no flash. So many amazing artifacts. What a fun time we had there. Highly recommended.

You know some of the most pleasant surprises are very close to anywhere. Ireland House is one such place. Not even an hours drive from downtown Toronto or take a train and bus. n even has a few secrets, like the possibility of a well in the basement. Also how well the staff and volunteers present themselves.Goof knowledge friendly and professional presentation.I think what I like is the fact it was a family home and squired as complete. The wood shed, chopped and ready to use.The kitchen built at the edge so it could be used year round. The old black stove, I am old enough to remember my mother and family preparing Turkey one Christmas in the UK on such a stove. The power was out. This places ignites such memories or the imagination, think about getting up, gathering wood, lighting a fire, hauling some water and starting your day.Oh yeah its -30 c. Well worth a visit.
