Instant Lawns - Sod Installation Ottawa

Extremely disappointed with my experience with Instant Lawns. Please read my full comments if you want to save your time, money and energy. My dealings with them started in may 2019. Jacob came to assess and quote the project in a timely manner. I paid my initial deposit upon receiving the quote. Due to the flooding the sod was behind schedule. That's ok I waited until mid June. And then I started calling and emailing them for eta, no answer. They just ignored me for some time. I posted my first negative review and requested my money back. Some one called me immediately after the review requesting the review to be deleted. And the person that called behaved like it was my fault not theirs. Anyway they sod my lawn in a few days. It was sometime in July. The same day they finished I received my final bill. On the bill states that I have 30 days to pay. But they called and emailed me everyday to pay my bill. Seriously!!! So two weeks after I noticed my new lawn had crab grass and weeds already. I emailed instant Lawns (with pictures). Jacob called me to assure that if in one month I have the same problem he will come and do what needs to be done. And he asked about my payment. It was two weeks after the sod. So I paid. One month later I have a lot of weeds, my lawn is on top it didn't attach to the ground. I have crab grass. I have space in between the lawn. I emailed (with pictures) and received a slap on my face that stated : you should take care of your lawn, resod, fertilize and deweed. My newly installed lawn (one month old) needs all this. What!?!!!!!! Anyway, I am very disappointed I have no words to describe my frustration dealing with them. Customer Negligence is their vision. If you are thinking of going with them do your due diligence don't get ripped off like it happened to me. All this possitive reviews should be questioned.... Just saying I am sure I am not the only one who got bad experience. This is just few pictures of my lawn that I have been working on non stop since month of July spending more money and time.

I had the sod removed from back yard and had fresh screened topsoil and new sod installed. Lucas, Caleb, Brandon and Adam were here today and did a really good job. My new lawn looks great. The team was lovely to deal with...very particular, polite and knowledgable. I am very pleased with the Instant Lawns Company experience from beginning to work completion.

They did our backyard, sod removal and new lawn installation plus some small interlock job. Very professional crew this year. We followed the instructions and 2 months later the lawn looks very well. The price was fair and they detailed the work items. The job took a little longer than expected but only by 2 days. We had a very good experience!

After many years of fighting to get our lawn back to pre-grub perfection, we had an irrigation system installed and subsequent sodding done! The irrigation system was installed quickly, expertly, instructions provided, follow up given, and the system was properly prepared and shut off for the winter! Jamieson and his crew did an excellent job and we thoroughly enjoyed our beautiful green lawn all season long! I highly recommend Instant Lawn Irrigation!

Compared 4 quotes that were are in line with each other but Instant Lawns responded the quickest and with the most detailed quote. They showed up when they said they would and delivered what was expected. I got more than I asked for as they used additional soil and sod to ensure proper results in low areas. They transitioned new and existing grass seamlessly and on level. During installation I asked for a a couple of extra details not in the contract and they simply took care of it without complaints or extra costs. Very energetic group of people that stayed until dusk to make sure they were finished in one day. Didn't have to deal with the typical, "we'll come back", and then never show up again. You can be confident using Instant Lawns.

This is my second submission. The first was on April 9/22 and was withdrawn some two days later after having received a call from Instant Lawns on April 11/22 admitting their failure to communicate and a promise “ Yes we will be returning to redo the work on your front lawn…and I expect to be there the last week of April or the first week of May…” Nobody showed up! First submission: “In May/21 I contracted Instant Lawns to refurbish my front lawn. The work started on time, the old lawn was removed, 104 yds. of advertised “ highest quality soil “ was brought in and spread and then hydroseeding with “ highest grade seed “ took place. After approximately ten days of twice daily watering by us, germination started. There followed many surprises, young grass came first, then purslane took over the edges of the lawn, this was followed by plantain and finally by huge clumps of crabgrass. My concern was communicated with photos to the contractor who informed me that this was quite normal “ with hydroseeding you will always have weeds…as they are growing at the same time as the seeds…” Eventually the contractor Jacob Kwiatkowski came and admitted that the weeds must have been imported with the soil. He informed me that the lawn would be redone at his expense. Time went on and after several e-mails, on August 11/21 I was told that I was still on his radar and the work would be done as soon as the heat wave was over. August ended, September passed and winter came but Mr. Kwiatkowski did not. It is now spring and $12,000 later with lots of crabgrass and other weeds to come, we will not have the lawn we were expecting nor the value for our money. There was no guaranteed satisfaction here.” I am not a novice, in my time I have supervised and sub contracted out to build two homes and have lived in my present home for over thirty years. I have met a lot of tradespeople but this has been my worst experience.

Jamieson and crew were excellent. The work was of high quality and the staff are very professional and courteous. My lawn looks great and the irrigation system works very well. I would highly recommend them. I plan to use this company for my irrigation system maintenance as well.

Instant Lawns built our interlock patio in our backyard last year and I absolutely loved the result and quality of work. It looks beautiful, clean and durable. We liked our experience with the team and I would definitely recommend them. Last spring/summer I was shopping around to find a reliable company to build our little interlock project in the backyard of our house in Orleans, lots of companies would not show up for the initial estimate visit, others were overpriced or didn’t have references or good reviews. Instant Lawns DID show up for the initial visit for the quote, they listened to our needs, took measurements, and provided a quote on the spot and the written one a few days later. They gave us the most competitive quote, we had also asked for references to check out other clients’ result. We decided to go with them and chose the blocs style and interlock design we want and they ordered it and had it delivered straight in our backyard. They completed the work in a timely manner and kept us in the loop. I am very satisfied with the result and I would hire them again for future projects!
