I struggled with whether to rate our stay 3 stars or 4, and I think if I had paid less (eg normal weekday rates) it would have been a solid four. We stayed in a chalet over a holiday weekend and the rates are REALLY high on holidays (>$300/night.) I think my expectations were too high because of the high price. I'm no stranger to roughing it but I don't think one can wave away all the small details by saying it's a "rustic" accommodation when Huttopia is charging this much for nights in the chalets. Small details make a big difference at this price point: - the bed was only passably comfortable, it felt like a pretty cheap mattress - low quality pillows and linens, especially the towels! super small and laughably rough - lowest possible quality tissues and toilet paper - all the provided soaps (body soap, dish soap, shampoo, etc) had simply been refilled with water - the floor of the cabin was untreated, so it was necessary to always wear socks or shoes - no lights over the signage for parking areas makes it really difficult to navigate if you arrive in the dark - all the cooking utensils were extremely cheap (the cutting knife was literally from Dollarama) However! The location is really nice, with easy proximity to spend a day in Sutton, the hiking trails from the Huttopia grounds hook up into Mont Sutton and Plein Air Sutton's trail networks, and it's a short drive to rent kayaks at Au Diable Vert. I could see it being really fun to go on a long hike, return to eat pizza at the restaurant, have a swim, have your own private shower and then relax by a fire. But we were just there to have a lazy weekend, cook and hang out at the chalet. I would try coming back but stay in a cheaper accommodation (I'm not sure how much the tent pitches are) when I'm looking to have a more active trip. Next time I'm going to spend this much and know I don't intend to make use of the trail network, river, etc, I'll just rent an airbnb.

Reception was disorganized, employees were really poor knowledgeable. Over the phone they confirmed our tents were together and at arrival they wanted to charge an extra fee to be together. We didn’t so they move one of the tents to the other side of the site. The lake is not accesible unless you pay an extra fee per person. Please keep in mind you need to book beforehand the hour you plan to go to the pool as it is not a show up thing. It seems COVID-19 hit them hard and they want to recover by charging for everything. Otherwise the site is very clean and lots of green areas. I do not recommend this place there are so many nice other sites in Québec and Ontario. CR

Awesome overall experience. Staff is great and our tent was cleaned upon arrival. The chariots to bring up our belongings and groceries were a good idea, but they were a bit hard to maneuver. The chariot we got was about to break on us, lol, but maybe we just got unlucky. Bundle of wood for 12$ was a bit higher than the average price of other campgrounds, but this is "glamping". Other than that, we had an untouched/unopened bundle of wood by the end of our trip that they did not want to reimburse. Maybe change this policy?

Wonderful experience for families, couples, or groups of friends (note: we stayed in a cabin). Staff was excellent. Friendly and helpful. The property is beautiful and it's conveniently located next to trails and a short distance to town amenities. The pizza at the bistro was superb. The play ground with a focus on natural products was well thought out. The pool area and surrounding views are spectacular. The cabin is a beautiful structure. The only negative comment I have is the overall level of cleanliness in the cabins. Specific examples and recommendations have been provided to management. These small steps would make a huge difference and offer a completely comfortable, cozy, and welcoming experience in the cabins.

We are not there yet and already dissatisfied.. We booked a Canadian Origen tent for this coming weekend (no bathroom, not bbq) and will be traveling with another family. We paid for each tent $500 for two nights, very expensive no?? When asked for our tents to be together, the answer was that we have to pay another additional 55$ PER TENT for them to be able to do that, really? They gave us tents 5 minutes walking apart.. I found this not really customer oriented.. not looking good for our stay

This is the second year we've visited Huttopia, and things just keep getting better. Everyone there is really helpful and won't hesitate in recommending activities both in-and-off site. Camping ground is really nice and the facilities are really well kept. For us, this Huttopia the perfect place for a family vacation!

We've stayed at Huttopia 5 or 6 times over the years. If you plan to bring your own tent to camp- DON'T. This isn't the place for that, the tent sites are horribly located (very far from anything) They have 2 or 3 okay tent sites but now they charge for you to pick your site (which is absolutely stupid as any other campground makes that part of the reservation process) We've stayed in the deluxe tents with bathroom/kitchen and beds and if you can book off season, it is probably the best quality/price here. Our second chalet stay (February 2022) was not great. The main road was completely icy and they said they couldn't put salt or dirt because it was snowing?! So half the cars could not get up and we needed to walk to and from our car (it's a steep hill!) Luckily we got a ride for our stuff and the kids walked. Our chalet had a serious ant problem. I complained multiple times but because they fully book there was no way to switch. I'm talking huge black ants throughout the chalet (#15). Someone came and sprayed after I called twice. There should not be ants in a chalet in the winter. It's 100% from cleanliness of food being left out, and there were bug traps in the kitchen area full of ants even though they tried to explain that the ants come in on the firewood (impossible, it was minus 20) I was offered a free bundle of wood ($10 value) even when brought up to management. This is a 2 star accommodation (I'm guessing because it's rustic camping) but they charge 4 star city prices. They really need to up their game because the location itself can't carry the costs. Cheap furniture and kitchen items, linens and towels. It's almost insulting. Overall, it's a nice place. Sutton is great, there is a lot to explore, and in the summer it's nice to grab a coffee, have a swim, let the kids play on the wood playground area and obstacle course and enjoy the nearby creeks. But, they truly need to work on the accommodations.

Loved our stay in a Bonaventure tent. This place really under-sells itself online--it is simple and has a real rustic elegance to the whole experience. They take care of everything for you and you need practically zero camping experience or equipment to enjoy a seamless weekend in the woods. It's cheerful and laid back. Some tents have a bit more privacy than others (Huttopia will not let you reserve a specific tent) but they're relatively spread out and thoughtfully arranged. Mattresses and bedding were more comfortable than I expected, although some may want to bring their own pillows! Would absolutely recommend booking here!
