We have never fished before and we so are not a winter family, but with Covid shutting down all our winter plans we were on the hunt to try new stuff with the kids. We are SO HAPPY we did! We caught (and released) 6 fish! Gail and staff are so helpful. They drove us to our warm huts, provided bait and rods! Martin and Gail even showed us how to use the rods and how to bait the minnows. We didn’t have to worry about a thing. Fishing made super simple for people who know absolutely nothing about it. Thank you SO MUCH for such an incredible first time, memory making fun experience. Now, I can honestly say I’m looking forward to next winter to come again, hopefully the kids will last longer! ☺️
C	Claudio Dominianni on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I must say, l was impressed to how easy it was to pre book our ice fishing experience. I was glad we chose Hot Box Huts, lake Simcoe. The owner operators and staff were very friendly. Our hut was sealed and at best heated by propane. We had benched seating, and 8 pre drilled holes. We actually caught 2 fish within the first 1/2 hr. Everything went very smooth, considering that we had the coldest day out of the year. Happy fishing everyone, 2 thumbs up to Hot Box Huts.

M	Manny S on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Gail and Donny are so easy going and very accommodating. They where very flexible and awesome communication. I had a big group and rented 5 huts. The fishing was tough but sometimes that’s how it goes. The 6 man huts where clean, minnows supplied. Very well organized and transportation was good. Looking forward to setting up a bigger group outing next year.

I've heard so much great things can't wait to get it there with my family. Update we got out. It's very breezey coming in under the hut with no banks around the bottom of the hut. Had a couple tiny perch come by the camera in the am and then nothing for hours somewhat disappointed as I could have had the same experience in my pop up. Still great service so I won't change the rating
L	Louis Cormier on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had really high hopes going into this that it would be a great experience based on the reviews I read. We were assigned the Elf Hut which was unreasonably small (probably 6' long x 4' wide x 6' high). We could barely stand/move around in it and we're not huge adults (150 lb / 5'11) No windows so couldn't monitor the tip up outside...? The hut was heated with a camping stove with propane. The hut also had a bees nest? Super high winds on the day meant we couldn't leave the door open at all. Couldn't fish comfortably with a line longer than 25". Portapotties were a bit nasty, but that was to be expected. Of the 50+(?) huts in the village, I can't recommend this one unless you're alone and like to breathe propane for 8 hours. In conclusion, we would have paid more for a 4-person hut had we known the 2-person hut was going to be this small. The transportation on the ice was good. The equipment we rented was good. Gail and Donny looked like great people, I'm really bummed it wasn't a better experience.
