Recently we discovered that a member of our family is very sick. I was asked to begin looking for funeral home and cemetery options. I attended a few of the "big" cemeteries in Toronto. I was profoundly upset by the aggressive sales pressure some of the people placed on me. Our Priest told me that Catholic Cemeteries of Toronto are the only true Catholic cemetery, the others just claim to be for business. This seems very important to us, so I met with the staff at Holy Cross Cemetery, toured the cemetery and funeral home. I was very impressed. The staff took their time to answer my questions, and I loved that the cemetery is kept so beautifully. I am in the landscaping business and know that in the summer and after the spring we have had it is very hard to keep the grounds perfect, but I noticed they were working as hard as possible to keep everything looking great. I have made my recommendation to my family, and I would make it to you too. Holy Cross is a beautiful place for your family , when you need it.

Absolutely DO NOT recommend this cemetery and funeral location. Their customer service and care are beyond disappointing. The lack of empathy/understanding is non-existence. To have them accept 2 falsified indemnity COVID 19 forms from 2 people who should not have been in attendance was extremely disgusting. Not only did they place their staff at risk, they ruined the entombment service for the rest of our family. Between the funeral services and cemetery services, they do not have their protocols on the same page. The funeral service department tells us if someone is covid positive they have to quarantine for 14 days and cannot attend until they have 2 negative tests after they finish the quarantine. The cemetery service department does not follow the indemnity form they presented to us for signature. Totally disappointed with the lack of unity. THINK TWICE BEFORE LINING THIS COMPANIES POCKETS WITH YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY.

So unfortunate that my late grandmother is resting at this cemetery. Staff do not care for you here and will take away any and all items from gravestones without notifying you. My grandmother loved plants so we left a small figurine next to her gravestone. Last weekend I visited her and found the figurine had been thrown out. We reached out several times to complain of items that comply with the rules being tossed away only to be recieved by uncaring and unapologetic staff. Would not recommend this cemetery.

I have been visiting Holy Cross Cemetery since I was a child. I have my Mom,Dad,Brother,Grandparents, uncle and a Cousin all intered in the ground and the Mausoleum. I have pre-planned my own funeral and have the HIGHEST RESPECT for all their staff. They have always been VERY PROFESSIONAL,KIND and VERY CARING. THANK YOU ALL!!

"Groundskeepers Please Take Greater Care!" Over the past 25 years I have visited Holy Cross Cemetary on numerous occasions. Last week Thursday, I visited the grave of my beloved parents. As I meandered through the cemetery, I could not help but notice a dirt patch littered with bouquets of dead flowers. Grass was overgrown at the base of monuments, and weeds (of all different varieties) were thriving. Grass clippings created a mottled canvas. The cemetery is where our loved ones are buried. As a professional courtesy, please ask the groundskeepers to take greater care of the cemetery grounds. Thank you.

This is the worst cemetery I have had to deal with. They have no respect for your loved ones that are buried there. I would not recommend anyone to be interred here. I have had to on multiple occasions go to the office to complain about the condition of both my grandparents and fathers graves. Every time I go there I find something to report. You would think that the payment of the perpetual care would give you the comfort that the graves would be taken care of, but to me this is just another money grab. How is it the groundskeepers cannot notice a damaged vase sitting on top of a headstone and have it taken care of? I had to report this. Multiple times I have had to request that my loved ones headstones be raised as they are sinking bad enough to not have the name legible. There are many others in the same area that probably don't have loved ones to care for it and the headstones have sunk so bad that you cannot even see the name. Why are the ones only taken care of the ones that have family to complain? Sorry Holy Cross Cemetery is very disrespectful. Also, response time is not very good. The year my dad passed away, I received information in the mail about wreaths. I emailed to obtain one for both my father and grandparents graves. To this day i have not heard back. I have three generations of family interred there and feel completely disrespected. I will never refer them to anyone.

I deeply regret having my loved one interred here. This cemetery has been a disappointment in every possible way. Maintenance -If you want grass on your loved one's grave, you may have to wait weeks, months or even years to get it and only after repeated calls (this is not only my experience). -If you want your loved one's grave site to look well maintained, you may have to mow it on your own (that's what I do--the grass or weeds are not mowed often enough in my opinion). Grieving -If you want to grieve and honor your loved one by leaving/planting flowers or meaningful items (however small), etc. the cemetery will remove them (but not the kitsch they sell). While there IS a "cleaning" schedule, it does not apply to all gravesites and there's no telling whose decorations and flowers will be targeted and whose won't. My loved one's lovingly selected decorations and well maintained flowers are always removed, while others' often withering, dead or oversized plants and equally sized/bigger decorations (even within close proximity) remain untouched. So, be prepared for the possibility that your grieving process might be dismissed and trampled upon in this manner. -Decorations are not supposed to be thrown out but moved to a designated area. I have yet to find the last items that were removed. -Yes, even a small cross decoration will be removed while it's not uncommon to see a beer can left untouched. Apparently a cross is inappropriate in a Catholic cemetery. Safety -Complaints about uneven ground that is a tripping hazard during warm months and a slipping hazard during rainy and snowy months have gone unheeded for years. I'm thoroughly disgusted by this place. Their blatant lack of empathy, consideration, fairness and compassion is just shocking.

Most grave row and plot #'s were overgrown and hidden( hard or impossible to find). Saw many older people looking frantically to find their loved ones plots. So different from 10 yrs ago , seems like other than cutting the grass, no other maintenance has been done
