The real thing regarding Banh Mi (the wonderful cultural Mix between Asia and France that is the Vietnamese sandwich made with a french baguette style bread filled with liver pate, mayo, ham, pickled vegetables, green onion, and coriander). This tiny place is always packed with locals and members of the Vietnamese community. There is only room to create a short line of costumer, order the food and go. They have a great variety of other dishes that you should try, like the spring rolls and the desserts. They offer a membership card to obtain free sandwiches. It is better to order them by the dozen, like two of each type (I love their specials: pork, beef and chicken). Cash only!

Where can you buy Vietnamese baguettes, bánh mì (sandwiches), and snacks in Montreal's Chinatown? At Hoàng Oanh, of course! A Vietnamese baguette is lighter than a French one. Your teeth just sinks through, and the crust peels off pretty easily. It's not explicitly stated on the menu that you can buy just baguettes. One costs $0.60 or $3/5. I love buying my Viet baguettes from here. Otherwise, you can just try their bánh mì. They give out a stamp loyalty card (at least pre-Covid) where you get the 11th one free. I'm still working towards that. It's still cash only, so don't forget to bring some!

Cash only, prices include tx for simplicity. I've been coming here since I was a kid. Prices of course have increased since then but are still pretty cheap. A classic banh mi will set you back 4.50 tx in and you get a stamp card buy 10 get 1 free. They've had this forever, since I can remember 25 years ago at least. It always tastes good, they sell other stuff like deserts and other smaller things. If you're looking for a good ol traditional style banh mi, I've never been let down from here!

Great place for Vietnamese sandwich (Bánh mì). Tiny place and super fast service. My favorite is Banh mì Hoang Oanh and Banh mì Special (Đặc biệt). They have lot of snack choices as well. Love the “Chả chiên”, best for me. Price is reasonable.

Look, we both hate making our lunches. We both know eating out every day costs a ton of money. Boy do I have a solution for you. Hoang Oanh Sandwich is a small shop that serves sandwiches for a very very low price! They hit the spot both in the stomach and the wallet. The staff is lovely and friendly. I'll be back soon!

!!NEW PRICES!! The last review w the menu board was nine months ago, please see these photos instead. Cash only, taxes incl for convenience. They were kind enough to let me off a dollar short bc of the my confusion, very nice workers. We always give them a tip when we go anyways. Always fresh and affordable. One of the best banh mi in Montreal. You can call in advance if you are doing a big order to take advantage of their buy 10, get one free. Highly recommend!

THE PLACE TO BE for Vietnamese sandwiches! They have few branches too. I tried many different kinds including grilled chicken, vegetarian tofu with curry sauce, the classic... Etc. Never had I been disappointed. They also sell other Vietnamese light meals too, including spring rolls. Also they have packaged Vietnamese grocery as well. A great place when you want to eat something on the go, while walking in old Montréal or Chinatown.
