About Highlands Yoga Room

Although Christine has practiced yoga most of her life, it wasn't until she suffered the profound loss of her son in December 2014 that she found her way back to the mat for good. Beginning with Bereavement Yoga in January 2015, she began to find peace, love, and joy again. While searching for answers, what she discovered was a softening into life and the true meaning of yoga practice. Yoga gave her the opportunity to slow down, breathe deeply and find her centre. Practicing yoga on and off the mat deepened her compassion not only for herself but for others around her, so much so that she just had to find a way to share it with as many people as she could. Christine began her formal Yoga Teacher Training journey in September 2015 and the internal spark was ignited. Christine's love of learning and sharing these lessons and experiences bring a sincerity, compassion, understanding, and encouragement to her classes. Join Christine as she leads you through series of asana (yoga poses) allowing for the opportunity to slow down, take a look inside to see, feel, and breathe yourself into places of forgiveness, letting go, gratitude, and self-love.

This tiny studio is a hidden gem with a grand experience. I enjoyed the energy in the space. Its welcoming, calming and feels big and bright. I haven't left a class feeling so at peace and well worked from the inside out in a long time.

Cute little studio! I have attended pre-registered prenatal and mom and baby yoga, as well as some drop-in classes. Very welcoming space for both beginners and more experienced practitioners.

This is just a true gem of a space! The room is simple, clean, elegant and just feels good to be in. It's a real treasure for anyone who lives in the Highlands area, but is well worth the trip for any Edmontonian! There's a great variety of classes and many of Edmonton's finest instructors are on staff here. I hope this place becomes the hub of this historic and exciting part of town.

I have been attending a variety of classes at HYR (types and time slots) for a few weeks now and am completely in love with the space, the instructors, and the overall approach that this charming little studio takes. You will find that the classes are welcoming and the instructors really take care to workshop poses and welcome all levels of yogis.

Amazing little yoga studio. Staff are all lovely, and it's super open and accessible to all levels. There are few other studios in this area of the city, so they really play an important role in bringing yoga to this community. Highly recommend.

Great studio with some exceptional instructors. Prices are comparable with other studios. Smaller space so have much more interaction with instructor. Community yoga so has a safe community feel to place.

I decided to give our local neighbourhood yoga studio a try today, as I was long overdue for some stretching. I decided to try the roll and restore class which focused on rolling out tight muscles. It was exactly what I needed, as I’ve been struggling with especially tight hips and back. Janine guided our small class through various exercises after asking what areas we wanted to focus on. Since I haven’t been to yoga in a while, it was a great first class to get back into it. The movements were very gently and relaxing so I found myself very comfortable. I’ll definitely be back to try more classes!

After moving to Edmonton out of province I was super excited to find a yoga studio that felt β€œright”. The class I took was great and the teacher was lovely - she really knew what she was doing and seemed to understand the needs of the student who had been coming to classes before. My only problem, and for me it’s a huge problem, is the parking situation. I’ve tried to attend other classes and even bought a new student pass - but finding parking in the area takes so long that I’ve missed a few classes and left yoga-less and frustrated.
