β β β β β We had a wonderful experience. We showed up as scheduled (we were the first ride of the day). The owner was a wonderful host. We rode on two horses - Rocky and Winnie. We booked an hour trail ride - which took us up the mountain to a very nice vantage point where you can see all of Salmon Arm. The ride continued through a forest, and we crossed a stream. We then returned along the same trail. Overall, we really enjoyed the ride - nice horses - and beautiful views. The owner shared a number of stories . Based on our experience, I would be happy to schedule a future trail ride.

β β β β β My family had an amazing trail ride. The guide (and owner I believe) was incredibly good with my kids, one was a reluctant and grumpy rider and the other was overly excited and extremely chatty. She was wonderful with both of them and it allowed us adults to just enjoy the experience. We left a little later than our appointment time but it did not result in the ride being rushed at all. Great family activity.

β β β β β Ignore the bad reviews, be patient though and allow extra time horses arent machines they dont work on a time schedule.
I have been a trail rider most of my life and consider myself generally knowledgeable about horses. After missing being able to ride my own horses for 3 yrs due to moving into the city my love booked us trail ride for my birthday this year. I was skeptical if I would enjoy as alot of trail riding outfits treat the horses like machines to make money, but that isnt what I found with High Country.
She has great respect for her horses, they are fit and in good shape, soft still and rideable, no lame horses or bad feet on the trail here, incredibly sure footed it's a beautiful trail.
For someone to get out and experience horses it's a great place. As an experienced rider I enjoyed the views and my horse and as a total newbie my spouse felt comfortable and enjoyed his ride as well.

β β β β β Spoke to Lois 3 times to arrange a time for my 4 year old to ride around a ring for 15 min. She wanted to check her schedule and call me back. No problem. Days later still no call. Terrible service. If they were too busy they could have said that. very disappointed little girl. Shouldn't take 3 calls to book a time.

β β β β β Lois was a wonderful tour guide. She was patient and friendly with us even though we were late. She has great respect and cares for her horses, and it shows in the horses respect and love for her as well as their overall calm good temperament. Her horses are fit and in good shape, soft, still and rideable, no lame horses or bad feet on the trail here. Incredibly sure footed. The trail was beautiful and Lois takes opportunities to capture group photos.
As someone who grew up riding and trail riding I found Lois to be one of the best! Her love for what she does is evident in the care she puts into her horses and ensuring everyone whom she takes out is completely comfortable and has the best experience possible. Even my nervous son was at ease and came out much more confident in his horse riding abilities.
We will definitely make High Country Trail Rides a yearly trip!

I was riding Toby and she was such a good girl the whole ride .
I have not being able to ride for some years after we moved and this was a great experience. She let me do a quick bush and I got to help put the horses away . I was so happy and would love to go back :)
