About Hicks Fine Wines
After a 15 year professional hockey career—three of them were with the Edmonton Oilers—Doug retired in Edmonton and from a love of wine cultivated in Europe at the end of his career, jumped into the liquor industry opening Crestwood wines in 1994—the start of privatization. 20 years later, after selling Crestwood and living in the Caribbean for 3 years, Doug is back in the biz with Hicks Fine Wines.

On my first visit I was offered a tasting of several different wines, and they have frequent tastings listed on their website.
If you enjoy great wines, this is a great place to discover a new favourite.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wine heaven. Awesome selection and very knowledgeable staff. They also have two puppies at the store - can't go wrong with puppies and wine! It is a little pricey, but that's to be expected with a specialty wine store. They also have a smaller selection of cold beers and spirits.

I would recommend not only shopping here, and also using Doug as a tool to find that proper pairing for whatever your feast may consist of.
