BEWARE OF COYOTES! Please do not enter this trail from University Ave, as the bridge leading back to St. Jacobs is closed for repairs. It seems as though this section of the trail between the bridge and University Ave has become a breeding ground for coyotes. I narrowly escaped a coyote attack while hiking through this area. Though I attempted to stand my ground, the coyote charged at me, and I had no choice but to hop on my bike, and I just barely managed to outpace it. From my experience, this area is extremely dangerous! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Close to the city and feels remote. Trails can be a bit muddy and rough as they are used by horses.

This trail is so nice we entered through Waterloo side, tried to stay closer to river. The trail ends in St. Jacob downtown where we got some ice cream and took little break before we returned back.

Great trail , you walk about 800 m alongside a farm field before it goes into a wonderful natural wooded area. Follow the trail and you will get to the upper Grand River. There are horse trails that cross it so it's possible to make a wrong turn as well

It's a long walk into the trail. Once you get to the wise old oak, you wonder how much further you should go. If you have a toddler, it's a long ways in to get to the forest and river. The trail is nice and we saw a white egret in the river.

I loved this trail! It is so beautiful and so peaceful. Spent 2 hours looking for the tree face so I wish there was some kind of map to follow. But its really close to the start of the trail (if you start near the pillers factory) and then keep going straight and you should see the tree. Dont veer off to the left once you pass the little bridge. Everyone walking was asking eachother if they had passed the tree. We walked way to far only to realize we could have passed it the first 20 minutes of walking! Hopefully this little tip helps everyone! But besides the tree it really is a beautiful place to take a walk.

It is another trail that goes along the Grand River. I have seen many birds on this trail.

Perfect trail for a weekend hike. Can spot some horses and a few cows along the way. There are a few dog parks if you have one.
