Health First Medical Center

Family and I have been with Dr. Schuurman for many years now. Dr. Schuurman is a great doctor. The only complain is that most of the time when she's with you, you feel as if she's getting ready to run out the door because she can't wait to see the next patient. It's rare that she seems relaxed and seems to give you full attention. Within the last year they've hired 1 MOA that makes the service go from fine to absolutely TERRIBLE. Her name is Tammi. I cannot even begin to express how horrible she is. She is rude, cold, and racist. How do I know she is racist? On multiple occasions I see her dealing with people that are immigrants & have heavy accents and she talks down to them, makes them wait HOURS to see the doctor (even though they have an appointment) and every time (literally) calls to re-schedule appointments. I have confirmed this personally and talking to some of the other patients. My parents have a fairly strong accent and every single time she deals with them (via phone or in person) she is just so rude. Every time she makes them wait close to 2 hours for their appointment and every time my mom makes an appointment, this lady calls in to re-schedule her last minute, ignores any question, and just states why she's calling and hangs up before my mom can even begin to say anything!. Yet, when I make an appointment and see her in person she passes me by quickly, and on the phone she's fine. I don't have a thick or heavy accent at all. Strange huh? One time, one of the other MOA's informed my parents it was their turn to see the doctor and my parents got up, and as the MOA was leading them to the room Tammi quickly stops them and says, "No, it's not their turn, go take a seat." I was shocked when they told me this! The MOA whom was going to let my parents in is not a new hire, she's been there for a while, yet Tammi completely dominated her and my parents ended up waiting for close to another hour. The most recent issue was when I went to an appointment with my parents where the appointment was set for 2 PM Tammi said the appointment was for 2:20 when they arrived (which it wasn't. I made the appointment, repeated it multiple times on the phone AND wrote it down). Later, while waiting, I kept seeing Tammi moving a file to the back, I didn't think much by it. Later found out when I looked closer at the file that it was parents file she kept moving to the back! We ended up seeing the doctor at 3:50 ish PM. It's absolutely absurd that this clinic has MOA's like this. She acts like people owe something to her and she needs to remember that If it weren't for patients (who keep the clinic running) she wouldn't have a job there. Some people are not meant for the health care industry. She's one of them!!! Having this lady working there makes me rather want to go to other places rather than have to deal with her cold, rude, and racist attitude.

I found myself in a need of medical attention today, so I’ve decided to visit Health First Medical Centre, just to experience an unpleasant surprise. A clerk at the admission desk asked me, if I had an appointment and since my answer was “no”, she turned me down, advising me, the clinic does not accept any new patients. I realize, this type of medical facilities are not regulated and it is up to the doctor’s discretion to create their own rules, but doesn’t a walk-in clinic by definition accept patients on a walk-in basis and with no appointment required?

Dr's are amazing! You wont see anyone better If you can see past the horrendous staff... never seen such miserable people. They even got new people and they were just as awful. The blonde woman just huffed at her desk and gave me a curt "yes" when I walked up to the desk. I work in customer service and would never talk to someone like that. They all need some happy pills and a bit more coffee before coming to work.

Dr. Hartwig has been my doctor for years and I feel incredibly grateful. He's outstanding and mu biggest fear is that he'll retire. I've had issues that took 13 months to resolve because I went to other doctors and were fixed after one visit to Dr. Hartwig. The practice has common issues with high demand and it can be tough to get in as a walk in but as far as I'm concerned the occasional delay is worth it. I'll stay with him as long as he practices and I've stayed with him even after I moved from Surrey to Langley, even though it's a 20 min drive for me.

This is hands down the best clinic I've ever been to and the best family doctor I've ever had. The staff are all very kind and friendly. Everyone there knows us well and remembers our conditions and family dynamic. It's so nice going into a clinic where I feel safe to share anything and feel respected. I've been to other clinics in the area that were very rude and only seemed to care for one people geoup. I've never had a bad experience with anyone here and we've had these doctors for the last two years.

I've been a patient of Dr.Schurrman for about 15 years. She is truly amazing. She is compassionate and really does genuinely care. She is always comforting, goes the extra mile in caring for her patients. I am SO grateful to have her as my family doctor. Dr.Hartwig is also great. Thank you both!

Not sure where to begin here. I feel that in most reviews that tend to be negative, thos individuals have a history of rating people or businesses negatively, and find it difficult to post positive experiences. I have had nothing but amazing experiences dealing with the staff at this medical clinic. Yes there are long waits, but waits happen at every effecient business. Now as far as Dr. Schuurman, she has been over the top caring and considerate with me and my family. She genuinely cares about our well being and always gives us the time needed to make sure we are comfortable with the outcome of the visit. I wish everyone that works at Health First Medical a very safe and healthy future as we continue to deal with unprecedented times. Thank Dr. Schuurman and the rest of the staff for all that you do to keep us cared for and healthy.

I try my best to be understanding of hartwig but I can't anymore. You are so rude, condescending, and spend no time with your patients. Every time I speak or see you, I am rushed. Any issue, pain that I have seen him about, he always responds with "you are young just go out exercise you'll be good as new". I exercise regularly and still have pain. Undermines my own pain and feelings, it's disturbing and wrong. I have been trying to find a new FD for months now. And the other dr's at this center are no better. 0 stars if it'd let me
