I went in expecting just a haircut but I couldn’t believe the service I was given. Loland is an incredible barber and he washed and massaged my scalp and styled my hair after. I look amazing! The owner was there too and was awesome! I recommend this place if you are in Nanaimo it is well worth it. I will be back for sure and will be recommending to my friends. Thank you!!!

I've been a cheapo-franchise-haircut guy for my entire life, but decided to give Harbour City Barbers a shot after my son's hair was butchered. I'm not too fussed about style, but I also don't want my kids perpetually looking like they've never seen a comb before. The experience at HCB is unlike anything I've experienced. They take their time to actually make sure that the hair is cut evenly, and even paused mid-cut for a wash/scalp massage to make sure the hair was all going in the same direction. (Oh the scalp massage? Epic.) Love the friendly vibes, the conversation and the great looking haircut. I felt pretty bougie walking away with a hair STYLE for the first time, instead of just getting a cut. Since then, my two sons and I have been back again, and will continue to do so moving forward. The 'sticker shock' was real, but there's no comparison in the results. You truly do get what you pay for! Update: the three of us have been going to HCB exclusively for our haircuts for about a year, and every time is better than the last. Pro tip: If you're looking for the best skin fade on the island, go see Loland. I promise you, he will not disappoint! He finished the look with a straight razor, and even shaped my beard while he was at it. Talk about going above and beyond - incredible service, and an incredible cut!

Response to below: I did not see a dog during the incident I am referring to let alone two, so I am either really not that observant or there are multiple incidents where staff have been brought to tears in front of customers. As for me waiting 59 days, I believe it was longer than that because it wasn’t my last hair cut that this happened. However, it still bothers me to see staff treated poorly especially when there is a sign on the door saying be nice to the ones who show up or something if the sort. I have no obligation to “bring this up with you personally”, Colin. Frankly, I find you smarmy and I am uncomfortable whenever I have to deal with you but it is my prerogative to let people know what I had observed. Either way, I will not be returning. No need to respond.

Loland does an awesome skin fade I always get compliments on it! I come during the work day, and he is always careful not to dirty my shirt and makes sure I don’t have hair all over me when I head back to the office. I travel all the way from Courtenay just to get cut here. Would highly recommend!
