Habit Coffee isn't the first place where I've encountered a mediocre staff member who presses the tip function before handing over the credit card machine. I understand that some machines are set up this way, but when a customer is struggling to bypass the tip option, or asking how to bypass it, why would a staff member go on to explain how to leave them a tip? It's awkward for a customer to say: "Actually, I don't want to leave you a tip." But I'll speak those words. Especially if all said staff member has done is vaguely acknowledged me, placed a cookie in a paper bag and pushed it towards me on the countertop. Please tell me how that justifies a tip?! The experience of buying my daughter a cookie shouldn't have to include an encounter like this. We all know this sort of job doesn't pay very much, but that's because it isn't a skilled service. I don't tip the woman at Winners when she places my unerwear in a bag, so why should I tip for a cookie? Many people are on budgets-- I don't presently have the means to add a "tip" column to our family budget. Please, Habit Coffee, and other such venues across Victoria, would you knidly ask your staff to stop forcing tips on your customers?

The floors are often quite dirty. The last time I went, I ordered an iced latte but it tasted more just like a glass of milk with not enough espresso in it.

I'm pretty picky about what I order from coffeeshops and I like learning about what they have to offer so the barista was super helpful in me deciding what to get. I had one of their special espressos as an Americana, which I don't usually get. Their selection of products was a bit on the lower side but I guess they compensate for their quality. It's a nice place to hangout, do homework, or just enjoy some coffee alone or with friends. Big windows which allow a lot of natural light which is nice. My coffee was decent, and my girlfriend's was really good. There's a few better shops to go to but this one is really good!
